Calgary Flames vs Los Angeles Kings - Feb 5th, 2011 - 8:00PM MT CBC/FAN960

FLAMES vs KINGS

* http://flames.nhl.com/club/depthchar...id=DL|CGY|home

Not quite sure why flames.com has Staois as the 4th line winger. This can't be right.

Quote:
http://flames.nhl.com/club/preview.h...id=DL|CGY|home

Last 10: Los Angeles 5-4-1; Calgary 8-1-1

Season series: Third of four meetings this season. The home team has won the first two, with the recently-retired Craig Conroy scoring the decisive goal in a 3-1 Calgary victory on Oct. 10, and Anze Kopitar's power-play strike the difference as Los Angeles prevailed 2-1 on Dec. 9.

Who's hot: Quick has won his last four starts for the Kings while posting a .949 save percentage. … Brendan Morrison has 4 goals and 3 assists during a six-game points streak for the Flames. Kiprusoff has won his last five starts while posting a .939 save percentage.

Injury report: Los Angeles forwards Marco Sturm (knee) and Scott Parse (hip) are on injured reserve. … Calgary forward Niklas Hagman (undisclosed) is day-to-day, while defenseman Steve Staios (upper body) and forwards Daymond Langkow (neck) and Raitis Ivanans (concussion) are on injured reserve.

Big story: While the Flames have been on the longer tear, the Kings have also kicked it back into gear lately with a 4-0-1 mark in their last five games. As a result, both teams enter this game just one point out in the Western Conference playoff race.

5-3 win, I think - we haven't had a high scoring game in a little bit.

Crucial match up, I've got a feeling the score will be 3-1 for the Flames tonight. Go Flames go!

This is a crucial game. Both teams are playing superb hockey and need two points. It's going to be a hard game.

3-2 Flames. Jokinen, Kosto, and Iggy with the goals.

Williams and Doughty for the Kings.

Would be awesome for my pool if this happened.

Go Flames!

Greetings. Kings fan here....coming in peace.

Kopitar and Brown have been useless offensively lately. Defensively OK. If the Kings are going to the post season those two need to get their scoring touch back.

Both teams are doing great regarding SA/G.

Quick is playing tonight so, if he's on top of his game, and he has been lately, he's going to give you guys fits.

This should be a great game!

May the best team win!

DD8 isn't having the season he had last.

He's a guy with a bullseye on him, so, he's being played a lot tighter.

He's been whining a lot lately too, to the refs. Which he never used to do.

That said, I couldn't be happier we have him!

He got two G's last game in EDM, so, his scoring is starting to pick up.

I would suspect Staios sits in favor of Bouma.

Hagman is injured and we have no 13th forward so a D-man has to play forward unless we are going to recall someone which hasn't happened. Staios is has actually played forward when he broke into the league so he makes the logical choice over Mikkleson.

I have full confidence in this team to win tonight but the Hawks game may be a little bit different.

Wait. I thought Bouma was reassigned right away? Or was it that he wasn't going to join us in Atlanta? Bouma would make more sense than Staios anyway.

No, he was called up but couldn't make it to Atlanta due to the weather. He's wearing #57 tonight.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Gio and Brown battle it out again tonight. Those guys always go at each really hard when these 2 teams play.

Ok. Sweet. It is great to see some of the young guys come up for some games. I hope the lines are like this to give Bouma some farmiliarity:

Tangs - BMO - Iggy
Bork - Joker - Moss
Glenner - Stajan - TK/Jackman
Bouma - Backlund - TK/Jackman

This is going to be one hell of a game. Can not wait for it to start.

That being said, I will not be surprised if it goes to extra time.

Half of the remaining games this month are against teams who currently sit within 2 points of us.

Let's hope for a repeat of the season opener!

Nothing as dramatic as the one game in particular that you are referring to, but when they are ice at the same time they usually have some really good battles down down. And they always give each other a little extra shot when they make contact.

Indeed. The Flames now hold their own destiny in their own hands. We don't need much luck now. Just consistent efforts and a sense of urgency.
