This is a lot to ask of our friend Integral. Let's just hope it doesn't take up too much of his time.

Keep it up man!

Yes I absolutely agree. If we get Buffalo in the first round that avatar will be great for trolling.

We might have to put all these ideas to a vote depending on how many Integral wants to do.

I'd love to see one of Ovy's crazy goal against Phoenix. It probably wouldn't require many frames, but it might be too much drawing.

It appears we have gone the route of a rather labor intensive theme requiring artistic and animation skills. So maybe we should have put it to a vote too. I can make gifs but can't resize at a decent enough quality. I can't draw but have ideas. I can shop and chop like a champ.

Who wants to, and can make, the playoff gifs? I am sure Integral doesnt want to go it alone.

I've made .gifs before, but time is short and my animation skills are mediocre at best. I'll give it a go if I have some free time to try and take the load off of Integral (and I'll use his artwork as a template to try and match styles). But no promises.

I won't pretend to know how complicated it is to make avatar's like this, but it seems clear that Integral has the bodies down, so if people keep their requests simple enough where he only needs to change the heads will that help?

I'm just hoping he comes back. If he agrees to a vote then we'll gather up all the ideas, make a poll and use the top 10 or something like that, depending on how many he's willing to do.

how do you get the gifs resized small enough to fit the advatar requirements? I make the pics small as possible before giffing and it never f'in works for me. Do you reduce quality and size after creating the gifs?

What are you using to do the work? Just making pics smaller in physical size shouldn't have any negative effect on the quality.

mspaint photoshop and free gif creators online. I seem to only get the first frame of my gif in my avatar assuming its too big or not compatible or something. I have tried different hosting sites and uploading directly. I gif up.

if it's too big, only the first frame will show. I try and take all the images I find, then Photoshop them down to 135x135 pixels getting the crop I want, add text or whatever, animate, then before saving I reduce the quality usually by reducing the applied color pallet. Makes the image much more grainy but I don’t know any other way. It's all done in Photoshop though.

This is the key. You can reduce file size this way pretty significantly without seeing a whole lot of degradation in the image, especially in drawn images (not-real life photos) like Integral's because they typically only consist of a few colors.

If you don't have photoshop, use the Gimp. It's kind of like a freeware clone of photoshop, not quite as powerful especially for an advanced user but if you're not a professional it's plenty.

If you are using Gimp, the option is under Colors -> Posterize

Can someone add two slides to this?

First says "Dances Will Be Made"

Second says "Washington Capitals 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs"?

Thanks in advance! (Even if no one can)

Ok i am an idiot, i can't figure out how to reduce the applied color pallet in Photoshop. Googling has failed me. I did make an animated gif for my advatar but its f'in tiny. I just resized it until I got what that fit.

I used this site to create the gif. http://www.myspacegens.com/handler.p...=animatedimage

When you're finished with your frames for the animation and you hit save for web, it brings up an option screen.. the color pallet option (on the right side for me) allows you to continue decreasing until you hit your desired file size.

therein lies my problem is that I'm websensed from those url's. Gotta go home, get what I need and send it to work where I have PS available. So unless someone gets it tonight, I'll get 'cha tomorrow.

I create all my gifs right in photoshop so I dont know if that has some limiting factor of the usefulness of what I posted.
