don't joke the PP sucks so bad I bet they considered Redden if he did'nt have to clear re-entry and its a risk of a cap hit even though he would clear for sure, lol

btw Rangesr should of signed your bud Streit instead of Redden that yr and all may be good

McCabe is not a ppqb...more of a shooter...can not carry the puck at all...also known as Mcgivaway in his T.O. days. If a pp shooter is what the Rangers need McCabe is the guy. If it is a ppqb they should look elsewhere.

If Carolina falls again Pitkanen would be a nice addition IMO.

Others we know are available are McCabe and of course Kaberle.

Ideally IMO the Rangers would be best served with 2 veteran defenders on expiring contracts. One who can distribute the puck and one who can fire the puck. Pitkanen and Kaberle are more puck distributers, McCabe if a shooter.

Other available shooters...
Anton Babchuk
Sheldon Souray

Other available distributers (or who really do both)...
Cam Barker? (another resurrection project?)
Fedor Tyutin? He was a healthy scratch earlier in the season and there were rumors. Though now that Commodore is waived.
Erik Johnson? Were there any truth to the trade rumors around this guy? Are the Blues really considering it and going with Alex Pietrangelo? Here's something I'd move a 1st rounder, Grachev and a roster player for.

What else is out there that we haven't heard about?

If you ask me the Rangers should land one of each and one should be a sure thing and one can be a little shaky because salary-wise you probably can't afford to land two sure things..

Burke pursued Gilroy, an RFA who the Rangers may not need at the end of the year replaces Kaberle for TML while Hagelin adds a forward prospect (Hobey Baker Nominee) that can step in quickly.

Gilroy and Carl Hagelin for Kaberle

In an ideal (dream) world where Drury wants to play for Renney and waives his NMC
Drury for Sheldon Souray

Other deal for a shooter would be Roman Horak for Anton Babchuk.

No doubt Slats makes his personnel decisions based on what the coach wants...based on that...you can thank a specific guy for that decision.

OP asked for any PPQB... look in the dictionnary and you'll see Gonchar's picture beside PPQB. Look what he can do on a team that compliments his style (Pens)... not many are better... question is, are the NYR more like the Pens or more like the Sens?

The asking price is not that much... Del Zotto?

Are you honestly asking for an trade of del zotto for gonchar? that is a ridiculously awful deal for the rangers. Gonchar is signed through for another year and we need to try to save salary, Del Zotto we havent come close to giving up on since hes 20yo, and gonchar just sucks.

Gonchar is worth much with the way he has played last season in the playoffs and this year.

Who's this Poulin guy? I thought you guys drafted DP ahead of Dany Heatley and then traded Luongo to Florida for Mark Parrish and a KHL 3rd liner...then locked him up for the rest of his life...You mean he isn't holding the fort down in net for you guys? Oh that's right...he's a pathetic boxer now

Or better yet...Yashin.

There isn't a single package the Leafs can offer that'll be enough for Gaborik.

Stay classy isles fan. You should really be the one making smart alec remarks about dumb signings. See Dipietro and Yashin.

Can't wait to see Taveres walk as well after next season.

As for the trade proposals, many of you need to realize our young guys are not going ANYWHERE.

The only young guys of value that might be dealt are d-men such as Valatenko, and thats just because we have so many young d-men and not enough room for all of them.

We are not going to overpay for Kaberle and Burke seems to always want the world for him.

No way in hell do i give up a first rounder for a rental or even grachev for that matter. Especially since we won't be resigning him.

If anything id offer a 2nd + gilroy. Leafs don't want it...they can suck on my nads.

Don't want mcCabe, even for a 3rd rounder only.

Pitkanen id be interested to see what Carolina would want, although i highly doubt they trade him to the Rangers when were both battling for the same playoff spots.

I really wouldn't be surprised if we saw something stupid like redden for Souray or Drury for Souray.

Only time will tell. Just to note, Del Zotto, Callahan and Dubinsky are not going anywhere.

Wel Kaberle has NTC, can I interest you in Lebda?
It will take no more than 7th rounder and we will even give you a 5th or take on salary if you promise to put him in the line up every game against the leafs.

I think it's an interesting idea but I wouldn't do it.

Foster is really only a PP specialist, which the OP is looking for, but we also want a d-man with some semblance of defense. I think McDonagh can contribute some offense, but I don't think I'd do that deal.

Did you not notice the question mark (it appears as a ? on your screen) at the end of Del Zotto? In the context I used it in, it meant "perhaps Del Zotto?". It also leaves it open to being someone else.

Don't hate the proposal... the way the OP labeled his thread left it open to all sorts of proposals... at least I offered a genuine PPQB... now whether you like him or not is irrelevant. If NYR fans aren't willing to accept anything, then they shouldn't create posts with headers that make them look desperate to begin with.

yea i see the question mark and that is used as asking us for del zotto in that deal. Come on man Del zotto isnt going anywhere unless for a top defensman or offensive player. Gonchar isnt either.

Yes Gonchar could be a player that we would be interested in but only problems are that he isnt a ufa, we dont want to add salary. Gonchar just sucks period. We arent going to give up a better player and more promising player in del zotto for gonchar. If your looking for someone to take gonchar, im gonna say that hell go for a 4th or 5th rounder.

Just an FYI on the value of Kaberle....last year...

Wash: Joe Corvo
Carolina: 2nd Round Pick, Oskar Osala, Brian Pothier

So you are looking at

Tor: 2nd Round Pick, Christian Thomas
NYR: Kaberle

Looks like a decent deal.

Sounds to me like the OP is looking for more than just a rental player.

Gonchar is a top offensive defenseman. His defensive attributes are next to non-existing but then again, according to your NYR compatriot, you're in desperate need of a PPQB... he fits the bill to a T. The fact that he's not a UFA seems to be a plus according to the OP. So if you've got the right style, we've got the right player for you!

By the way, at this point, I'd be happy to unload Gonchar for just about anything... our team is not a good fit for him. That said, OP's desperate approach showed a weakness and so we just might insist on Del Zotto.
