Let me ask you this . Malkin was rumored to be unhappy a while back with not gettting to be the number one guy. The oilers season is a total wash would pittsburg ship off Malkin for Hemsky Penner and the oilers 2nd rounder (31st over all)

I don't think they make that deal if it was Oilers first rounder

because it's not even close to enough value.

for malkin you're talking about a lindros-like return.

Superstars are much more valuable then good players, especially 2 that have a year left on their contracts. Nothing against Penner or Hemsky but it's much easier aquiring players at there level through trades or free agency then it is to aquire a Malkin level player.

If the Oilers want Malkin, I am guessing Hemsky and Hall would be a starting point

Do you not think Hemsky or Penner would be movable in the off-season? Its not like they are picking up a contract that cannot be moved after the season.

There stock is already trade-able and playing alongside Crosby is only going to further that.

If Pittsburgh doesn't have the cap space for next year I fail to see the issue.

Cap space = keep

No cap space = trade away in off-season

It really is that simple folks.

Lalime has the best Post-Expansion playoff GAA of all time. He frowns down upon your malevolence.

I'd add Beauchemin into the top-5.

Teams have "apparently" expressed interest... I wouldnt be surprised if he got moved, especially with Aulie looking ready for the big times.

The general consensus among Pens fans is that adding a $4 million forward is doable in the off season. With Malkin on LTIR for the duration of the season that means the Penguins can add a guy like Hemsky or Penner without tying their hands.

Not many big names this year. Not that it matters since it's the most overhyped, overrated, annoying day of the year. Don't let the TSN guys fool you, the trade deadline does not determine winners come playoff time. Odds are the cup winner won't even make a move and if they do it will be a small depth move.

They just want your ratings

Oilers put high price on Penner, Hemsky

The Oilers are not desperate to deal Dustin Penner nor Ales Hemsky (both of whom have one more year on their deals), but as one opposing GM told ESPN.com on Friday, "Believe me, those two guys are in play, but right now they're asking for too much."

My sense is that the Oil will only move them if they really like what's offered. No urgency to move them.
This is what I like to hear as an Oilers fan. The laws of supply and demand. Right now, there are more buyers than sure-fire sellers. Plus, these guys are young enough to be part of our rebuild, so there is no reason to trade them right now unless a team is desperate and it makes sense for us long-term.

I think that these two for sure will be gone by dead line.

As another poster mentioned, there aren't a ton of sellers this year. The west is ridiculously close and Edmonton is the only team out of it. In the East, Atlanta, Buffalo and Florida are right in the mix. Toronto doesn't have a ton of assets to sell and isn't shopping for picks, leaving only the Isles, Devils and Sens.... and there's not a lot of attractive expendable players on those teams.

Nobody's mentioned Iginla yet either. If you're talking about 'big fish' he's about the biggest one out there.

Not saying anyone is going to land him.....but I wouldn't rule it out either.

I seriously doubt he will be traded ... I haven't followed the flames lately, but I know Iginla has improved drastically and unless there is a massiveoverpayment, I doubt he will get traded...

Anyone think a team who could use a PP boost takes a shot on Sheldon Souray?
