Is that Cyrillic? Cool! Gonna probably miss this one on the tv, got errands to run, but I'll break out my Neuvirth jersey in solidarity with the team . Hello Kolbe.

I always like it when the Caps play their rivals when they are winning streaks...it certainly tests them a great deal more than otherwise. Just win Caps....and of course put together a complete game.

Sounds like Orpik is trying to tone down the rhetoric before the game...just a little bit from Pittsburgh Tribune article...

During that game, Capitals left wing David Steckel blindsided Pens center Sidney Crosby with a shoulder to the head, a blow defenseman Brooks Orpik initially called "definitely dirty."

Orpik softened his stance Saturday.

"I think everyone has got their own opinion on whether or not that was a cheap shot," he said. "I've played against that Steckel a lot. For as big as he is (6 feet 5, 217 pounds), he's not all that physical. I've never really seen him stick out as a dirty player. They don't have a lot of dirty guys on that team, to be honest."

Yeah it was super funny reading the main boards thread about the hit and there were actually people calling steckel dirty and talking about how big a hitter he was and how he deliberately injured Crosby and I laughed because anyone that has seem him play regularly knows that isn't true. In fact if he were such a player I'd be a he'll of a lot happier with him and his contract if he also brought his faceoff percentage.

Keep up the coaching Bruce. Although I am still laughing that Tampa went prevent without a lead, an easy one to beat. Lets have someone glued to Stahl ahl day.

Indeed keep someone glued to stahl all day....get in Fleury's face and we should do well. I doubt the Pens want to get into a shooting match with us. Anyone see the lineups anywhere...can't find them.

On an interesting note...I was just playing around with numbers...and if Ovie was actually shooting at his career average he'd have 30 goals now and be tied for 3rd in goals with 30 and tied for 4th in points. Currently he is only shooting at 8.1% up from earlier this year when he was just above 7%.....his career average is 12%. I'll be interested to watch the stats of the offensive stars of the Caps over the next 30 games because I think we'll see a significant improvement for all of them especially in shooting percentage.

Steckel, David. Front and center. lol

no clue what happens. I have commitments so will miss most of this game probably. We need to pounce of a team that is playing well but is also undermanned at the moment.

Going to airport now, might have to miss first period or so...
No Crosby or Malkin, i like our chances. Hoping for the same performance from the first line as on Thursday.
Good luck!

It's pretty interesting that a 3.9% drop in your shooting can lead to people saying that you're career is in decline.

I am retarded, i meant Friday.

I still cant believe Malkin is injured again after 1 shift and it sounds bad, torn ACL/MCL... i had torn ACL, MCL and lost close to 30% of Meniscus in 94 in the left knee and torn MCL 2 years ago in the right one, its a *****... Tough luck for the big guy.

You gotta think that NBC is kicking themselves for scheduling this game. No Crosby, no Malkin and Ovi is having a very un Ovi-like season.

I'm pretty much ready for the entirety of Pittsburgh, PA to be on suicide watch by this time tomorrow.

Packers 28-17

No predictions for the Caps game. **** jinxes.

Will have little to no bearing on the pace of the game. Two teams that hate each other always find a way to make things fun. If the fickle masses don't appreciate the rivalry **** em.

Rest assured, the pens broadcast will be all about the injured today. All game long.

I want Steckel to stick a bullseye on Stahls back on the opening faceoff. There is no reason to not go tactical and try and shut him down. At minimum I want a defensemen on him like glue. With last line change, we should be able to do it at center as well. Pin MJ and Gordon on him, tell him to shut him down.

I will be interested to see if anyone tries to make Steckel "answer" for his "dirty act of brutal aggression".

The funny part is that steckel is probably one of our least aggressive players....wonder if king is dressing...because you know he'll be useful this game.

No I am Score, and no Crosby. Would be rather demoralizing to lose this game after the good showing in Tampa.
