Don't care about the score, just want the Caps to replicate the effort and composure from the Tampa game. Although.. if they do that, only a hefty amount of luck would save the Pens from losing this one.

i believe that ov's shots on goal numbers are also off by a significant percentage. he still leads the league, but he used to lead my ridiculous margins. the combination of his shot totals being down and his shooting % being down creates a drop from an average of 50+ goals per season down to his current 30 goal rate. Thats a 40% drop in goal scoring and THAT is what allows people to suggest his career is in decline.

as ov likes to say, maybe its just a moment in his career and his numbers will return to normal at some point. only time will tell.

Katie bar the door(takes on a new meaning with Katie@WaPo) if Johnny is starting for the Pens.

couldnt disagree more. this game has a real story set up. no crosby...steckel. no malkin. ovechkin trying to refire his game. pens on a winning streak regardless. caps fighting to get the division back.

drama. ratings.

Not to mention a possible first round matchup.

To me the drop off in shots per game can be traced back to the beginning of the season when he seemed snake bit and than snowballed with the development of the wrist injury which just now seems to be healing. His career shots per game average is 5.45 and this season its 4.66 which translates to a 16% decline in shots per game(who knows maybe that missing shot per game is the goal). Currently he has 247 shots and had he been averaging his normal 5.45 per game he'd be at 288 not that much more but still.

If his shot total had been 288 at 12% shooting that translates to 35 goals currently instead of 20....at 247 at 12% is 30 goals.

I hope not. Despite the fact that some outsiders don't like him, he's one of the best in the business--hence Vs. employing him.

If he's gone, they'd better go after someone like Gary Thorne. Else, we'll be left with Al Koken or *shudder* Steve Kolbe.

I think I'd have to do something very drastic if Steve Kolbe becomes the play by play man.....very drastic!!!

All signs point to Joe B. sticking around CSN-W now, but the one guy I wouldn't mind replacing him would be Gary Thorne.

joe b is not leaving the caps. he has been cut from verses as nbc sports/verses becomes a single entity. i would expect verses to use one play by play man rather than the assortment of available comcast staff as has been the previous plan.

joe probably just took a 20% income hit. thats never fun.

I hope so. The Pens have been playing some pretty dirty hockey recently, even by their standards. Dressing King today would be a smart move.

I'm thinking it'll be a pretty chippy contest...should be fun to watch. And I certainly think we'll get to work on the PP a fair amount.

kcarrera: Michal Neuvirth led the #Caps out for warm-up so it looks like he'll make his first start since Jan. 18 in Philly.

It's actually a 32.5% decline in shooting percentage.
