Kovalev to Pens

I think this is almost a given and the cost will be not much more then a bag of pucks

To Ottawa
-4th rd pick in 2011
To Pens
-Kovalev

Kovalev has always picked up his game in the playoffs. I think the Pens will look at every other player available before they would make a move for Kovalev, but if they don't find anything else they like, I could see it happening as kind of a last resort type of thing.

I think the Pens are going to trade for Versteeg :]. Deal around Tangradi + Versteeg or Pitt's 1st round 2011/2012?

Yeah I doubt that.

This would have to be a last resort deal IMO. Not a bad deal, but I think Shero is going to be looking at a dozen other deals before mulling over bringing Kovalev here again.

Don't have a 4th in 2011 and Kovy is really a last throw of the dice type move.

Kovalev gets a bad rap. Consider that scoring is down on the Sens team-wide and Kovalev had knee surgery in the off season and I think he could still help out a team like the Penguins a whole lot. As mentioned, the price would not be great and it could be the best bang for your buck.

Not good enough to get a 2nd for him but not bad enough or expensive enough that he'd pass through waivers either.

Pens don't have a 4th, but I'd be willing to give a bag of pucks for him.

Kovalev is a great offensive talent when he chooses to be.
A 4th isnt enough IMO. A 3rd would get it done.

Kovalev would be the hail mary for Shero. If nothing else pans out, then maybe.

Murray will ask for at least a 2nd for Kovalev. When he decides to play the guy can still be a difference maker and the Pens need talent. He also has a history of performing big in the playoffs.

In Kovalev's case I would make the deal conditional, if he has big playoffs and helps out the team to the conference finals it could go up to Pens late 1st round pick.

Pens won't offer much for him. Maybe some other team will. We're not that desperate. I could see Shero looking at Kovy's season in Ottawa and being so unimpressed that he may not even be interested.

I'd give a middling prospect or late pick, nothing more. Hard to see a bidding war for a guy who most teams are going to struggle to fit under the cap and is having an absolutely miserable season for the second year in a row. He's the last resort option.

I'd rather have Dustin Jeffrey in the top six than lose a second rounder for Kovalev at this stage of his career.
