Congrats Carey Price!

This is a thread to give the credit to Carey, as soooooo many wanted him gone, and Halak to stay.

Halak was great for sure, and we owe him alot as fans for the run last year.

But Price has proven to hab fans, that the right choice was made:

young, mature, and many years ahead.

To all habs fans that stood by this guy, a send a free MGD.

I never doubted his ability but I was close to convinced that he was not made for this city... especially with the Halak love affair that become intense during the PO run. After the 1st preseason game of the year, things looked .... worrisome.

But he's proven me wrong, a lot stronger between the ears than what I gave him credit for... he not only told the fans to essentially s-t-f-u but never looked back ever since.

The beauty of his game over Halak's is that he makes EVERYTHING look so easy and it seems like he'd never get tired... One of the most laid back goalies I've seen... he's got ice water in his veins.

He looks like he'll be ready to play 65-70 games a year for many seasons to come....

If he can keep up the consistency and sign long term here in Montreal, we'll be retiring his number to the rafters one day ... in a long time from now.

actually...Re-hab was pro-price all along. I still remember the names.

sampollock the poster wasn't. He kept doing what he does now with Andrei, he would post: trade him at the end of all his posts.

As great as Price has been, he still hasn't outdone what Halak did for us last year, especially if you consider the playoffs. Even during the regular season last year, I think Halak had more points in terms of top 3 stars of the game than any other goalie in the league and he played far fewer games than most starters. The return we got for him was garbage imo. But Price is definitely in the process of proving the right choice was made, he just hasn't quite fully proven it yet. The playoffs is where he gets his opportunity to do that!

Was pro-Halak for a while, and while I'll never forget what he did for this team, I'm all Price now. Who couldn't be?

Same here. I said before the Halak trade that I'd be done as a Habs fan if they traded Price. It's all about long-term thinking.

The guy is a beast.

LOL I was a Halak supporter, but the choice made was Price and I hope it works out to be the right one. But its way to premature for all you people to be saying "I told you so".

Your absolutely right, Carey hasnt done what Halak did for us in the playoffs yet (not choice, have to wait till April for him to outplay Halak). BUt regular season, that is a joke. Price has been contributing more during the regular season (compared to only last year) than what Halak did. Possibly because the system is working better but I think its safe to forget about the whole controversy now.

Yep, you are right, very premature. Price doesnt have to do much, Halak's play this year is proving itself altogether

I'm just messing around. Always been a Price believer, since 2005 but we can never forget what Halak did for us last year. It will be played in the 200th year replays when we eventually reach that milestone (unless 2012 is actually real). Unbelievable plays...

Fair enough. He hasn't done much in the playoffs. Yet.

Yeah because the faith of a proffessional atlethe is clearly determined by a bunch of guys posting on an interweb forum.

Hopefully Carey keeps it up for 10 years, but I'm not worried for him.

I was never anti-Halak per se, but was always pro-Price.

I always said I didn't believe Halak was able to sustain top notch play throughout a year. That he is a good goalie, but best fit as part of a 1A/1B tandem type like he mostly had here. He's a little guy, and little guys have to work harder / scramble more, so you get tired.

I really wonder what this forum would look like if we had kept Halak instead of Price, and Halak had the numbers / performances that he has had in St. Louis this year (and Price replicated his performance here elsewhere). People would be calling for Gauthier's head after every game. Tough job.
