Edm/Atl

From Gene Principe's twitter:

Quote:
Lots of talk about Zach Bogosian to Edm and last night two scouts from Atlanta drove to Nashville, in a mild snowstorm, to watch the game
Put it as speculation because Gene isn't a rumor guy but he is very connected with the Oilers. Have to think it would be Penner/Hemsky going the other way.

Hemsky, forget about Penner landing Bogosian. Atlanta's nuts if they move him IMO.

Yeah, I guess. Antropov goes the other way I assume? I doubt you'd get both for Bogosian - although, that dude is worth it.

Bogosian is exactly the type of number 1 d-man prospect the Oilers need. I'd gladly package Penner or Hemsky for him.

From an neutral fan, I would say not enough going to Atlanta for Bogosian. Hemsky + Smid is more like it.

Hmmm, Hemsky Smid is a bit of an overpayment, something else would have to come back to Edm. dunno what though.

Antropov probably. This is intriguing, this can get done IMO.

EDIT: HUGE mistake by the Thrashers though IMO.

If you toss in Slater/Andropov and a 1st rounder, sure.

Not sure about Bogosian, but we did have scouts at that game. From the Thrashers beat writer:

Quote:
I'm told #Thrashers had two scouts at Oilers-Predators game Monday night.
Dudley was quoted as saying he's not trading anything that will damage our future. I doubt Bogosian is heading anywhere. I'm thinking the package being offered (for whomever) is:

1st + Antropov/Peverley + Prospect

The 1st doesn't do much damage to Atlanta seeing how we have our last 3 first round picks (all within the top-8) playing with the team.

This I could see, as for being a huge mistake I kinda disagree, you'd lose some future offensive potential but gain a 2 way solid forward who I think should have a better time staying healthy, and will be able to shelter Kane a little longer. Plus not have to go through the growing pains for Bogosian anymore.

here's a proposal i made. Bogosian to Boston for TO's pick. Oilers trade Hemsky and Smid to ATL for the TO's pick. Everyone's happy.

According to Bob Stauffer(the Oilers Radio Colour Man) this was the third straight game the Thrashers had scouts in attendence.

...and apparently the Oilers had scouts at the Thrashers game too.

I hope it's Bogosian. A young defensemen with upside is exactly what we need. I don't think it's Antropov. The size is nice but the production isn't.

This. Your proposal just makes too much sense from Atlanta's perspective. We have a 2nd line center that is expendable now that Antropov is finding his game again. And I completely agree about the 1st round pick.

If EDM wants a D coming back, I could see it possibly being Oduya as his contract only goes through next year. Doubt they would take Hainsey for another 2 years. Also, we have 3 defensive prospects that EDM could be interested in. Kulda/Postma/ and Zubarev. EDM could be looking at Kulda since he has been in the line-up the last few games.

The Oilers have no use for Oduya. We already have Smid, Vandermeer and Peckham playing the defensive d-man role. If we are trading for a d-man, its not another average guy, we have enough of those. It would need to be a guy like Bogosian, young, potential top pair guy.

I would be interested in Hemsky for Bogosian, but I haven't really followed him. How has Bogosian's development been thus far? What's his potential viewed as at this point?

He's struggled this season. He's on pace for another 15-20 points season but he's only 20 years old so you can't really hold it against him.

They may have been scouting for the fact that we play the Oilers next week.
