yeah you know who needs to go ... Mr. I can't finish a goal to save my life
Two questions then, if we trade Mr. I can't finish a goal to save my life, one, if Pittsburgh needs a center, who do we get back from them in return and two, are you comfortable with Goc, Smithson and Spaling as our top 3 centers if we trade Mr. you know who?
It'd be Wilson, Goc, Smithson, and Spaling.. yeah?
uh, no.
Would we move Wilson back to center at this point? He's been playing well on the wing. Think about the missed assignment on Sarich the other night and that was as a wing who has less defensive responsibility. I'm not so sure I want him up the middle just yet. And yes, I know you were being sarcastic.
Legwand was a beast defensively against the RW. Of all nights to post this, you post it after a game where it was easy to see the value he brings to the team.

Legwand has only been mentioned for the Selke one time- and that was in 2006-07 when he played on a line with Kariya and Erat that also had the ability to score (which is a requirement for the Selke).
For someone who has a quote regarding how good Wilson is (which I completely agree with mind you), it shouldn't have been hard to notice that Wilson's play has increased two levels since being paired with Legwand and Hornqvist.
I'll say it again- Legwand is the most offensively capable and defensively capable center on the roster. Those are the facts and the statistics bear that out. Lombardi may surpass Legwand offensively with Nashville, but he's not done it yet.
Attempting to get rid of Legwand is just a bad idea right now. If you want to improve the team, bring in another center of at least Legwand's caliber to center Kostitsyn and Erat and bump Goc to the Sullivan and Dumont line (thinking a Connolly or Weiss here).
That's a good standard, because award nominations are definitely a comprehensive measure of talent. The Selke in particular is NOT known for going to players who benefit from weaker power-on-power matchups and accrue a lot of points, instead of actual full-blown defensive players. When do I have to put the sarcasm tag on?
And there's also this guy Staal who can step into the number 2 slot when Crosby is back, which should be soon. Pittsburgh can go after a 3rd line type to finish the season.
Leggy is to important to us. Pitt has no assets that we could get in return anyway. Not happening.
Any one who doesnt see how important Legwand is to us does not pay much attention
