If they want to add black to the uniform it's got to be on something other than the jerseys. They handed soo many blue home jerseys out and probably sold a ton too this past year. Almost everybody has made the switch over to the new look so I don't see how you can then go and make a noticeable change. Adding the victory stripes can work because they're small and easy to add without changing the appearance of the whole thing. You can't see them anyway unless you raise your arms.

Your logic makes me think the pants will be black then.
As much as I would love to see some black and especially the return of the victory stripes if this is true, I will also feel mildly upset that they are making these changes after one season when most of us have already invested in the new look. Unless these changes are only going to appear on a 3rd.
Step 1 in his master plan to own the Rays and move them there. Almost complete.
I agree with this. Long shot. Channelside could become so much more with a baseball stadium near by, it already hums during Bolts games......But...why else would he buy it?
I'm pretty sure the Bolts 3rds are staying next year.. if they were to change anything it would be the pants.
I'm not sure. It needs to be altered, definitely. The shoulder patches still reflect the last logo, and the shade of blue isn't the same as the one the team has adopted.
Didn't they say they would've ditched the 3rds before the beginning of 2011/12 if it wasn't for the 3 year rule?
fairly certain that this is the reason... I'm sure the NHL would let them at least up date the logo on the shoulder, I'm not sure anything else can be changed though.
Seriously though, I think its against MLB rules or something. Can't own majority stake of two teams although he only has a minority stake in Boston. Either way I think its all a pipe dream but it would be cool

Solution: buy MLB, change rule.
What does the MLB have? 32 teams? What Vinik should do is buy 31 of them, and never interact with the unowned team, but constantly poach their players and staff via free agency.

There is a rule but Vinik only owns 2% of the Red Sox so selling a small percentage of the Sox to purchase a large percentage if not all of the Rays may make sense especially since he spends a decent amount of time here now.
As three groups jockey to take over the troubled Channelside Bay Plaza in downtown Tampa, one may have just taken the lead – and it's a group that wants to drop the name "Channelside."
The largest operator of restaurants in Channelside, Guy Revelle, is throwing his support behind one bidder: Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik.
"The other two bids are O.K., fine," Revelle said after watching formal presentations from all three bidders.
"But Vinik's vision is great and caters to locals, linking Channelside, Harbour Island, the sports arena. And all the operators he's talking to who would come in are really strong. If they win the bid, Channelside will transform so much, people are not going to recognize it."

I'm assuming that the missing information here is that the other two bidders had plans that heavily depended on tourism, which is mercenary business.
