The Arnott deal... maybe.

The Williams deal... not a chance. LA loves Williams.

Yeah, not a chance. Montreal won't deal their 2012 2nd round pick for a player as inconsistent and more injury-prone than Akost.

This guy will never be welcome in Montreal anyway...

From a MTL POT, Kostitsyn's trade is the worst one. In fact, it should be Williams+late pick for Kostitsyn... Nobody knows if a trade could wake up AK47 and finally get the best out of him

New Jersey might not be sellers at the deadline.

- They have scored points in 9 of their last 10 games (8-1-1)
- Kovalchuk is finally scoring
- They have 6 more games before the deadline (two against 8th place Carolina)
- If they win at least 4 of those games and Carolina and Atlanta continue to struggle the Devils could be just 4-5 games out of 8th spot with 22 games to play.

Ottawa and the Islanders are toast, but the Devils are playing well enough to make it.

No, we'll probably sell anyway, unless we manage to sweep the rest of the month of February or have some equally ridiculous record.

As for that Arnott deal, it appears that there will be fairly high demand for him at the deadline. I think Lou could and will get more than that.

Its very optimistic. Carolina (in 8th) is on pace for a 90 point season, so lets say that's the playoff cutoff in the east. To make the playoffs, New Jersey must get at least 46 points in their last 28 games, which is an average of 1.64 ppg. To reach that mark, for the final third of the season they will need to play at a pace that if it was prorated over a full season, would make them the most successful regular season team ever. They can only leave at maximum of 10 points on the table for the rest of the year. Possible? yes. But I wouldn't bet on it.
