I don't disagree, FWIW. I would guess the proposal was made since ZP is going to be a RFA on a team that has some upcoming Cap issues.

We don't have cap issues next season.

Besides, if we did, Parise > cap issues. We will sign Parise first and worry about the salary cap later. If that means sending NHL regulars to the AHL so keep Parise, so be it. It's a team game, but Parise is easily the most important player on the team.

Hypothetically, if the Penguins only have 8 million in cap space when Crosby becomes a UFA and he's asking for 9 mil, would they trade him? Or would they find cheaper role players? Parise to the Devils is Crosby to the Penguins.

It's not even a sore subject. It's a sore subject to fans of the 29 other teams. Most of us are happy we have Kovy and understand that there were a lot of easily fixable factors that contributed to his lack of personal success early on.

I just don't get why so many people get on him. Most people blame the money, but he has the 25th highest cap hit and 51st highest salary this season. It just blows my mind how butthurt people get over the round number that is 100 mil.

The only reason why the Devils would acquire Stafford is so that the Parise-Zajac-Stafford line could be reunited (from college).
