I Doubt it... Colorado has no incentive to trade Stastny... unless you want to offer Miller or Myers

dont be a homer
This is quite possibly the most understated post I have seen on this board...

What i seem to get from countless postings ... So Miller should stay a Sabre ONLY if he has the stats of last year or better. NEVER have a tough year, NEVER be out of position. NEVER let in a soft goal. NEVER seem aggravated after a loss in an interview. I see, ok, in that case you're right we should ship out Miller for a board with tiny carnival like holes in it, strap it to the goal before a game and call it: Nativity the great!

I'm gonna call it now.

Rivet will be traded to the Leafs in one of those draft pick buying trades similar to the one they did with Kolzig a few years back.

Something like Rivet and a 5th for some jabroni prospect.

Miller goes no where... unless some team is dumb enough to offer a 20-25 year stud center...

good point.

I do however get the feeling they'll move Rivet and that's probably the only way to do so at this point. At the very least out of respect to Rivet so his career doesn't end riding the pine wearing the C. He may be able to at least see some action in Toronto to finish out his career especially if the Leafs move out Komi and/or Kaberle.

Hawks maybe interested in Montador, but looks like Stuart or Hunwick goes there first, anything we could get out of Chicago? Maybe Bolland?

I wouldn't mind dealing for him at all. I think Bolland would be a nice fit between Vanek & Pominville.

I doubt that the Hawks will ship Bolland out in a deal for a rental like Montador.

And given the Sabres C depth issues, I doubt they have a player that Chicago would want to replace Bolland on their NHL roster.

Somehow I don't think that Connolly & Montador for Bolland will work, either.

I could see a Rivet or Butler for shirokov trade at deadline. Vancouver needs D and shirokov is a giod center prospect imo.......

After watching Loktionov last night against the Rangers, I'd love to trade for him and groom him as a future top 6 center.

what would it take?

... to get grabner and nielsen from the islanders?

for those who don't watch the islander: grabner is +12, 25 goals (21evg, 3shg, 1ppg), 36 points. nielsen +8, 7goals (2evg, 5shg), 30 points.

and on top of that: they are probably one of the best pk tandem in the league right now. i don't know nielsen shg against. but grabner has 2. so he scored more shg then the islanders got ppg against when he was on the ice. and he is the fastest player in the league with nielsen not being slow himself.

but would they be able to keep it up under the reign of a defensive minded coach like lindy? or do they need a offense first coach?

maybe having a fellow austrian on the team would help vanek too.

You'd have to give up some young talent which Darcy will never do. Isles made a great pickup on Grabner off waivers. Could thing for Florida's GM he's in market where no cares about hockey or he'd be cooked for it every day.

now that the islanders finally have some 'decent' players they are surely going to trade them, right?

Grabner was a gift from the hockey gods to the Isles considering all the **** that fanbase has suffered (and continues to suffer) through.

Targeting players when they're hot is the equivalent to buying tech stocks in 1999, or a house in Miami in 2006: you'll go bankrupt eventually.

i think nielsen will always be a decent shutdown center and grabner won't loose his speed and will be a constant 20 or maybe even 30 goal scorer. at least i hope so.

no question they are on a hot streak right now, especially grabner. but they will always have some value.

Any interest in Nik Antropov?

I'd take Antropov as our #2 center. He has a 4.062 cap hit for the next two years, which is high, but not ridiculous. He had a 67 point year last year, but he's had a disappointing season so far. Atlanta would probably be willing to move him. Any interest? What would you give up?

Ennis and Grabner probably have similar value, in favor of Grabner.

I would give up Connolly, Rivet and Nieds...but realistically not sure if he would fit long term (aka next year and 25 games) or who we would be willing to give up for him.

I've stated before that I'm not a huge fan of his game, but as weak as we are at center right now he bears a look.

Sure, but given Atlanta just traded Peverley and we're competing with them for a playoff spot, I don't see him being traded -- at least not to us.

I'd rather have Ennis at center than Grabner at wing.
