How much will Bobby Ryan get?

So how much do you think Ryan will make? I think it's pretty much confirmed that it will be a longterm deal if he does resign.

So here are your options!

Personally, I can see him taking around 6 250 000M for 5-7 Years.

I would be looking at EK's contract as a comparable.

I see a 7-7.5 contract coming using Getzlaf and Perry / Kane and Toews as a marker.

The former have the 8.3 or whatever cap hits, and the latter two might even get up to 9, and Ryan is obviously s tier below all 4 of them.

I think with the way things are going lately, 7 per is absolutely feasible on a long term deal.

Non related, but it just makes you giggle with glee to think of Karlssons contract.

IF he likes it here, Karlsson money.

FWIW I heard from couple of buddies in the Ottawa hockey world they really like "Bobby R" on the team and he's a cool guy. That's pretty much what we see in the videos and stuff, we'll wait and see, I vote Karlsson money

10% of a 76 million dollar cap... The projected cap for 15/16

So 7.6 million

What's the general consensus in the Ottawa area, do people think he will resign?

Seems to be a mixed bag. A lot of pessimism because of recent circumstances (Spezza, budget, etc.) but Ryan seems pretty happy to be here. I'd be surprised if he walked, honestly.

I'm thinking 6.5-7.25 range, max term. Don't think he'll get 8 million, b/c Kessel got that and he's not as good as Kessel. Preferably sign him before he sees what Vanek gets at UFA lol

Kessel signed at 8 less than a year ago, and has scored 45% more goals and 59% more points over the last 3 years. Way better player and only about 3% more of the total cap (at the time)? IDK, maybe if he went to UFA, but signing an extension I don't see it.

6 million x 8 years. Full no trade/move clause.

Front loaded deal with the first two years being 7.5 million a piece. The logic behind it being front loaded is that almost all of Ottawa's prospects have back loaded deals where their salaries increase year by year to go along with their progression. That, and Turris is becoming underpaid due to Ottawa winning the long term deal with him, so when he signs an extension in 2017, he'll theoretically get a big raise.

Bettman has informally projected that the upper-limit of the 2014-15 NHL salary cap will come in somewhere between $69-70M. That's a lower figure than the $71.1M than was anticipated in the fall, before the value of the Canadian dollar weakened significantly.

Unless the CDN$ recovers prior to the 2014-15 season, the value of the $5.2 billion Canadian broadcast rights agreement between the NHL and Rogers Sportsnet will also be affected since it is paid in CDN$.

Then I read this article http://www.bnn.ca/News/2014/4/8/BCE-...L-drought.aspx

Could be a significant concern if future marketing/advertising dollars start to slip away from NHL hockey due to viewership numbers.

So while I agree with you Fuhr the cap will rise, there are factors that suggest the rise in cap may not be as dramatic as projected.

I don't think he gets this, but what if he gets between 7.5 - 8? There is no option for that.
