Jokinen

I know, "he's lost a step since we signed him." But just a year ago, between Phoenix and Calgary he was still a 63pt player. So yeah he's taken a step back, but 63 points would be the leading scorer on our team.

Considering he still loves (and lives in) south florida, and we desperately need a big guy down the middle, I say we have to give our ex-captain a shot!

Any chance we end up signing him? (at a pay-cut, obviously)

He did have a lot of chemistry with nathan horton...

Doubt it. Even though Martin isn't here, I don't see management re-signing him. And IIRC weren't some players happy to see him go?

Rather trade for a number one center or sign marleau or plekanec

The potential negatives far outweigh the potential positives, in my opinion.

His chemistry with Horton was getting him to blow off team functions and head to strip clubs, no?

Pass.

If they trade for Sharp and not Spezza, which likely means Horton is still here since Chicago can't take on a lot of salary, I would sign Jokinen, cheap, say 2-2.5 mil. That would give you a top two lines of Booth-Weiss-Horton and Sharp-Jokinen-Frolik. Keeping Horton, adding Sharp even if you didn't add Jokinen almost certainly means we would have to find someone to take Vokoun to clear money. I envision a Sharp trade would be something like all 3 of our seconds or a top 15 pick we could trade them for plus Repik and/or Matthias. Remember the purpose Chicago would hope to achieve by trading Sharp is to clear Cap Space so they would want picks and prospects in return. If you do sign Jokinen and trade Matthias that would slip Reino down to the third line which is where he belongs anyway.

No way I would trade Matthias and sign Jokinen. We know what olli is a team cancer that slacked off at the end of the year to try and get the coach fired. I don't think that qualifies as character that Tallon is looking for. Matthias was one of the better players towards the end of last year I'd rather keep him than sign Jokinen. He has a chance to get better Olli is only going to get worse.

Yea, I distinctly remember him being referred to as a "Cancer" in the lockers.

How many times must I say this - The PLAYERS don't even want him back.

This has been debated time and time again by the same guys responding now. Shut down the thread and direct Knightmare, and anyone else who is unaware, where to read all of the posts.

I joined a few weeks ago. Jeeze, chill out everyone. I thought it was an interesting idea.

And this team was VERY different when Jokinen was here so, how the hell do you know who wants him back. Different coach, different players, different GM, different owners. I feel like Jokinen would be a great signing for about 2.5-3 mil, better than Reinprecht was anyway. But sorry for thinking about it, didnt mean to disrupt your sexual fantasies of trading vokoun for carter or spezza.

Calm down, see the "lol," it's obvious you're new. Yes, it was an idea, but we also have a search at the top of the site. That helps avoid all of the above.

yes, the team was different, and we're trying to make it MORE different and get further away from the way the team was when he was here. Olli only played well when Keenan was here, he's been on the steady decline since and he's exactly what we don't want here anymore.

Vokoun + Reino plus pittsburgh's second round pick for Carter.

If Tallon pulled this off...wow.. I would be so happy.. reason being is..... Reinprecht is a third line center... Matthias right now is a third line center and will only develop. Giving them reinprecht adds the center they need when the lose Carter and they get a premier goalie.

For us.. we get rid of 8 million dollars worth of contract and bring in 5 mill which results in a plus 3 million salary cap crunch. Second we allow our kids to actually play

I think the addition of reinprecht helps both squads

Frolik(25+)-Carter (35+)-Horton (35+) This line could produce 100 goals
Booth(30)-Weiss (25)-Stillman (20) This line is capable of 70-75 goals
Olesz(15)-Matthias(15)-Repik(10+) capable of 40+ goals
Bitz(5)-Campbell(5)-Dvorak(15). capable of 20+ goals

I don't think my numbers are all that off and these totals come about to 2.8 goals per game just from offense... you got to think the defense should pot a combined 20+ goals bringing our combined amount to over 3 goals per game.

Repik and Stillman are interchangeable.
The entire top 6 could be rotated around.

My major concern...injuries change this number drastically.. take out Booth and Horton like last year and you get a whole lot less goal production.

nice idea but very unlikely if you'd ask me.. they wouldnt want two ageing players for one of their best players, even though vokoun is a vezina caliber goalie (if he would have been on a different team im sure). for carter id say vokoun and one of our "nhl ready" prospects like repik, matthias or/and maybe a high 2nd round pick. because IF vokoun wouldnt re-sign with them, im sure they still want something to show for that trade in 5 years..

Didn't all this the players didn't like Jokinen start with a remark that Olesz made to a fan at a team function? If so, he has a lot of room to talk, having the hands of stone, fragile as they are and of a $3.125 million dollar waste of cap space.

As for Jokinen, both Iginla and Conroy jumped to the defence of the man television analyst Matthew Barnaby called a locker-room "cancer" when the Flames acquired the big Finn from Phoenix.

"I thought Olli Jokinen, he came here and he tried hard and it didn't work out," Conroy said. "But you could see him every day, the way the world was on his shoulders. I felt very bad for him. I feel like Jokinen gets a very hard rap, too. People don't like him. Why? I don't know why." Neither does Iginla.

"I heard about it before he came that he was maybe not the best dressing room guy or maybe a little selfish," Iginla said. "I didn't see it.

"Maybe we didn't produce the way we wanted to on the ice. But it wasn't because he was complaining or unhappy. He enjoyed playing here, and he was a very good teammate, and that wasn't one of the issues."
