So, broken wrist, what's the timeline for that type of injury? Although Alberts is at best the 6th/7th d-man when this team is fully healthy, losing his size and ability to clear the net for the post-season would be a bit of a cause for concern. If he's expected to be out for months, it might be wise for Gillis to kick the tires on some available depth d-men with size.
I remember before Christmas when it was a long discussion about how to trade/get rid off players to fit Salo under the cap and I said that the problem was just a LTIR away from being solved. To quote Nietzsche, "What does it matter if I am right? I am much too right".
Karma is a *****, something good is due to happen.
That 'something' has been happening all year. This entire amazing season (thusfar), has been a karmic comeuppance for 40 years of shattered hearts and broken bottles.
This spate of injuries is the Hockey God's way of reminding us that we are still, in fact, Canucks fans.

I was just thinking this....
Hockey gods influence on the Canucks
1970- Dale Tallon
1982... good cup run.. but sorry...
89 .. yeah... he kicked it in..
90-93.... SORRY
94....PING!!
2002- Sorry..gotta let one in from centre
2003- OOO YOU'RE SO CLOSE! NAH.. Dan cloutier again.. sorry
2004- We giveth you.. Todd bertuzzi..... and martin gelinas..
2007- Diarhea
2009 and 2010 Defense injuries and the blackhawks
2011- OOOO YOUR BEST TEAM EVER... SORRY ALL YOUR D MEN MUST DIE NOW...
I swear, this is almost comical right now. If Salo goes down anytime soon, which he almost did last night, were forced to ice..
Ehrhoff-Bieksa
Tanev-Rome
Sauve-The drifter outside Rogers Arena with the hockey stick
Ridiculous...
The only good news is everybody is expected back before playoffs. Hopefully they'll all be fresh and ready for a long run.
It's hardly like we're trying to get into a playoff spot right now.
Team has shown it can win many nights with by relying on specialty teams - why not just play the trap in even strength situations? Good team defense can mask flaws on the blueline (and Ballard isn't going to be gone forever - he doesn't have a concussion).

Yeah it's Hamuis I'm worried about the most, if he gets the annual Willie Mitchell headache then we're screwed without our top shut down guy in the playoffs AGAIN
I know Hamhuis hit looked a lot worse but it sounds like he is a lot better than what Mitchell and Savard were. Hamhuis has been seeing socializing while Mitchell and Savard were bed ridden because lights and sounds bothered them.
You never know with concussions for sure. This team needs a healthy Hamhuis to go on
A long run IMO.
I think the team is just being very cautious with Hamhuis. They know this is one of the years in a small window .... At least that's what I'm holding on to.
As for Ballard . Lets hope sekeres is right. Then again anything coming from that guys mouth is questionable. Actually on the team 1040 he just admitted he tweeted a BC lion was about to sign after the lion tweeted " getting ink". He meant he was getting a tattoo.
