Pfft. Westi did a favor for all of you. He knows he's not what the Kings need on the ice.

I wouldn't mind seeing him get in two more so he won't be able to suit up for the next game...

I can guarantee you that for as much flak as TM gets, every NHL coach promotes carrying the puck across the blueline, entering the zone with speed, getting the puck to the middle, and getting bodies to the net. He's no exception. The Kings are executing poorly.
Do you read Murray's comments on Hammonds blog? Murray's system is to dump, cycle and get shots from the point. It is not a puck possession, skate in across the blue line offense.

Notice how Loktionov is the only one skating through the middle for passes? He hasn't been destroyed by Murray yet. He will probably be benched for it soon.

The kings don't even look dangerous. So depressing.

Only 4 shots. Need at least 10 more from the half boards, blue line with a row of players in blocking position and a couple from behind the net to meet Terry Murray's shot mentality quota

1st period:

Dump and chase-check

Take every shot from the outside-check

Have a useless sandbag on the 4th line-check

Recipe=boring and losing hockey!

Kopitar is getting upstaged by Loktionov.

I still wonder what goes through Murray's head when he starts Westgarth. We were 5-0-1 in our last six before he started Westgarth. Why has no reporter ever asked?

And four shots in a period. The only good ones by Loktionov.

Caps color guy just said.

"If LA wants to start scoring goals they need to get the puck off the wall, they are cycling to much"

Obviously this guy isn't an alum of the Murray & Lombardi School of Hockey

Is the difference from last season really that no one underestimates the Kings anymore?

Did Bob Miller even have to say the word "Kopitar" in the first period?

Did I miss something?

Hard to blame the lone goal on the Kings, as it was a good shot by Ovechkin.

This is one reason why I hate fighting nowadays in hockey. You have people like Murray who think throwing in a terrible player like Westgarth will SHIFT THE MOMENTUM when they go down with a BIG STAGED FIGHT. These staged fights to get the boys riled up is ********; do you think a fight that starts just because you're down one and doing nothing is going to charge the guys up?

At least when Simmonds or Clifford fight, there is some damn emotion. Westgarth fighting is like watching a pro wrestling match.

The Kings were a much better offensive team last season.

Handzus, Frolov, Parse, Simmonds, Richardson were all producing timely goals last season, none of them have done it this season for various reasons.

The Kings just don't score enough goals. It's as simple as that.

Well...so far I might have found a perfect cure for insomnia... The only problem is that TM might sue me over the patent...

Nope, everyone knows to let the Kings cycle themselves into a turnover. They can play a simple zone to keep them on the outside since the Kings prefer to play on the outside.

No other teams have scouted our "system" and figured us out already.

Terry Murray between periods to the team: "Play grittier and heavier." Kopitar: "Can I go to the middle of the ice now?" Murray: "No"

Maybe this period was just to lure the Capitals into a sense of security. Dump it in over and over. Have Kopitar play like casper and do absolutely nothing. Then, in the 2nd, we'll drive down the middle, mix it up, and get some fast break shots. They'll never expect it. They'll all be behind the net, waiting for us to dump it in.

Another reason I hate dumping it in all the time? You get two Kings behind the net when we lose it, and the other team gets a huge break on the other end.
