MDZ + Boyle + MZA + Gaborik + a 3rd + a 4th
for
Skinner + McBain + Canes 1st

some extra bodies may be added for cap..
Take out MZA and add a low to mid-level prospect and you've got a deal. That's a lot the Rangers are giving up. Also take out the Cane's 1st.

MDZ, Boyle, Gaborik, 2nd, 3rd for Skinner, McBain

I love Skinner and McBain as much as the next Canes fan, but really?

Gaborik and Staal+for them??

You may have to charge Jim Rutherford with theft.

I almost **** my pants when i read this proposal.

The op deserves to be suspended for even offering this.

Im not sure if hes a rangers fan or carolina fan in disguise.

BTW Staal is worth more than anyone of Carolinas players in that trade

It goes beyond on ice value (which is still clearly in Staal's corner), Staal is 3 years younger and signed for 4 more years at under 4 mil. Pitkanen is a pending UFA coming off of a 4 mil contract.

This trade will never happen just cuz trades like that are too complex and involve too many "good" pieces. With that being said, this trade kills the Canes secondary scoring too. A line of Anisimov-Larose-Jokinen/Samsonov (depending on if either resign) would be anemic. The Canes need secondary scoring so to give up Skinner and Ruutu when you have Cole, Samsonov, Jokinen, and Larose all as UFA's, this trade won't happen.

Can live with your counter-offer. However the Cane's first is a significant piece.

Without more time on this for now, would summarize as:
core of definitely:
Boyle + Gaborik for Skinner + McBain

Something additional possibly including MDZ/MZA/NYR picks
need to be added depending upon what
Cane picks are also added.
Again, disclaimer, added lesser bodies for cap balance...

No, you're just a homer if you would take an older impending UFA defender who your fellow fans have said is very inconsistent over one of the best young shutdown defenders who is developing offensively, is only 23 years old, and is signed long term to a good deal and was an all-star this season.

Absolutely not.

I'd throw Gaborik and maybe a couple of picks for Skinner, McBain, and the 1st, but not all of those extra players.

Sorry, but the Rangers still have by far and away the best player in the deal, and they're going to get value for him. Because even in his down year, he's still having a pretty damn good season, and people seem to forget that. All that needs to happen is a stretch of games where he starts scoring, and people will start saying that his value is back up again.

I'm sorry but are Carolina fans talking out of there ass here. I really wonder if you watch any team besides your own.

Staal is one of the top defensemen in the league. Anybody who watches him on a regular basis will tell you this. I would say he is the most important player on our team right now. If Staal was traded for anything less than an elite talent (ala OV, Crosby, Etc) I would truly re-think rooting for the Rangers any longer.

I wouldn't trade him for Skinner and Pitkanen and a 1st by himself, let alone in a package with Gaborik.

Staal is honestly more important to this team than anything we could get back in trade.

LOL.

You're not going to get an 18 year old who's on pace for 63 points playing with poor linemates and a future top pairing defenseman AND a 1st for Gaborik.

Not even close.

I can see why NYR fans think so highly of M. Staal and understand his value. However, to equate his value with an elite-level forward is homerish. M. Staal is not elite at this point and would not not an elite forward, just as Pronger hasn't who at the time of his trades was better than Staal.

No way the Canes would trade Skinner, Pitkanen and a 1st for him. That's way too much for Staal. Keep in mind this was a NYR fan proposal and since the Canes aren't looking to shop their #1 or Skinner, you'd need to make a huge overpayment offer, which it isn't from a Carolina perspective.

This is pathetically bad for the Rangers.

The OP is constantly making these wacky proposals for some reason...I don't see the point in it personally, but to each is own.

Skinner is not worth any of this at all. Pitkanen is a UFA. McBain is good, but not THAT good. And Rutuu is redundant.

RANGERS:

Sign Richards
Re-sign Pitkanen, Eminger and all our RFAs except Gilroy
Let White walk
Hope Drury retires. Otherwise buy him out.

Dubinsky Richards Skinner
Kreider Stepan Zuccarello
Wolski Ruutu Callahan
Prust Boyle Avery
Grachev

Pitkanen Girardi
McDonagh McBain <-- played together at Wisconsin (with Stepan too)
Eminger Sauer
Valentenko

For the Canes (assuming not much else changes):

Cole - Staal - Gaborik
Samsonov - Anisimov - LaRose
Tlusty - Sutter - Dwyer
Boychuk - Sutter - Bodie

Staal - Corvo
Gleason - Del Zotto
Harrison - Carson

Ward
The Rangers brass might want to break out the lube to soften things up after getting absolutely ***** in this trade.

So Staal being an All Star defenseman was just for ***** and giggles right (in reference to your first post) and it makes me sad that people with as little intelligence as yourself are hockey fans referring to your second post about Gaborik.

I can end this silly proposal/thread right now:

Gaborik's contract is a no go for the Canes.

Small market team on a budget looking for a part owner, no way in hell can they pay Staal (8.25M), Ward (6.3M) and Gaborik (7.5M). This team just won't do it.

And I get Gaborik has been healthier, but there's still a risk you take with him. The Canes just can't take that risk. Not for a guy making that much money.
