Seems about right, perhaps a bit low. It's a very young defense, so they'll only get better and improve in ranking. Having 2 rookies, a struggling sophomore, a mediocre college free agent, and a journeyman doesn't help, but they have played well despite those labels.

Anytime you see "2 rookies, a struggling sophomore, a mediocre college free agent, and a journeyman" without the names attached, you would think that's the worst defense in the league.

15th is unbelievable considering the age of this group.

Some of the D on this list above the Rangers are top heavy, like Boston, Coyotes, Sharks, Canucks, Red Wings, and Thrashers, but that's just my opinion.

next year we'll be top 10, 3 years, top 5.

Just my opinion.

Im not interested in trading for a defenseman.

I would have them 9th. There are 6 teams that are above them and don't belong IMO.

Dallas should not be above us. But overall pretty fair.

I'd have us at 13th. The Caps shouldn't be ahead of us. The only reason why they are is because everyone is convinced Mike Green is God. The Coyotes shouldn't either. Other than that I agree.

The Rangers are as top heavy as anyone on the list. They have an all-star 1st pair, a solid 2nd pair, and an AHL 3rd pair.

I'm not qualified to rank all 30 teams but two teams that definitely belong below the Rangers are the Stars and the Coyotes.

I also have trouble with the (highly overrated) Kings, Bruins and Flames being above us.

People are underrating the Stars. They don't have alot of star power on the top pair but they're very solid all the way through, something the Rangers don't have with Michael Del Pylon and Matt Failroy on the 3rd pair. People look at our potential here, but this is not based on potential, it's a 2011 ranking. Right now, the Rangers have a middle of the pack defense.

THN hates the rangers, that much we already know

they still think its the 80's and 90's and NY will bring in old Canadian superstars to play in Gotham such as Marcel Dionne, Guy LaFleur, Bernie Nichols. The only guy I read with any regularity over there is Darryl Dobbs who has his own site

montreal had to give long island a 2nd round pick for a UFA defenseman, plus they have two 37 year old guys back there and they make the list right below NY

fishwrap I say

I'm not sure why these silly articles from THN are even posted. Mr. copy&paste keep them on your computer.

Edler, Erhoff, Salo, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Ballard

When healthy, Vancouver has, in my opinion, the best D in the NHL 1-6.
