Honestly its tough to say. Management will likely wait closer to the deadline to see how the team is playing. With the way the D has performed this year, we might have to strongly consider keeping him and resigning him.

Oh, thanks, Eric, for chiming in.

If we give him the opportunity to go to a Stanley Cup contender, I have little doubt he's gone. Guy wants to win a Cup and will need to play well to get a good contract next year.

Can we trade for the baby?

So your listed location is Ireland, so you must know everything that is going on in St. Louis.

Ignoring the ******* match between cities, we'd simply ask for your 1st and 4th.

Don't worry, though. You'd get your 4th back before the draft to send his rights back to St. Louis. Of course, the way luck goes with the Blues, the NHL would find cause for tampering and you'll be awarded Johnson. So congrats Habs.

Born and raised in STL, still visit there frequently, and I constantly study STL, looking for ways to improve it.

But continued poor assumptions aside, maybe we should return to the Brewer discussion.

There isn't a Brewer discussion. The first post says it all. He has a NTC and just had a baby, which means he will reject every trade. He won't leave his wife and he won't make his wife and newborn move with him.

Because if he leaves, he pretty much guarantees that he won't have another chance to have another kid.

Maybe Eller back for Brewer and a switch of first rounders or a 2nd instead.

Why would we switch 1st rounders or give up a second? Brewer has been our best defenseman this year, and Eller has struggled in Montreal, and you think we should give you more value to get him?

Have you ever lived with a newborn?

48 hours of crying and diapers and this guy might be off to the KHL.

If he'd waive his NTC I think it would be a 2nd + a bottom 6 forward or a prospect outside of Montreal's top 6. No way they're getting a 1st or an impact player or a guy who's expected to turn into an impact player.

I've had 3 kids so far...and I definately would have if I could have!

But Brewer MAY decide that he wants to sign a long term deal in St-L and moving (even for a couple months) would be bad (in his personal and professional life).

But he MAY choose to waive his NTC to go to a playoff team with a chance for a deep run.

And any woman who marries a hockey player thinking/demanding they will never move is either delusional or hoping her husband doesn't play hockey very long...because the likelyhood of moving at least once is VERY high.

Your an ignorant idiot, spoken like a true county snob! Ever hear of Dog Town, The Central West End, Tower Grove South, Tower Grove East, Benton Park, Soulard, Lafayette Square, St Louis Hills, etc...etc..etc.. Sorry to not talk hockey but I'm embarrassed this person calls St. Louis home!

Back to hockey, if the St. Louis Blues decide Eric Brewer is not in the future plans and decide to move him at the deadline to a Stanley Cup contender I think Brewer would waive his NTC. Family is important but hockey careers are short and especially for a guy like Brewer who has only been to the play-offs twice in his career with never winning a round. Word is though he would like to resign with St. Louis.

None of this is really of interest to the Blues.

I 100% agree with the first part.

If Brewer really wants to resign and the Blues both know it and plan on resigning him then they might get what they can. But if they are unsure, they will have to get a good deal for him.

I can't see Montreal interested in Brewer. They have their sights on Karberle. Gonchar's name hasn't come up much in rumours yet but he could be a good fit for Montreal. The Canadiens will have to decide what their plans are next year for Markov and Hamrlik. If they decide that they will likely not be able to resign both then they need to assess compensation for a 35+ contract with two years left at 5.5M per. If they decide they will likely want and be able to resign both of them then they likely should pass on Gonchar (or would have to peddle him elsewhere after the season).

Brewer could still be a rental player for a team looking to make a cup run and sign back with St. Louis in the offseason ala Doug Weight.

Its an unofficially named neighborhood in the City of St. Louis.. and its actually spelled Dogtown. Its known as proud and pretty safe community that holds a very large St. Particks Day celebration.
