That sucks for Montreal, regardless of how it ends up.

To answer your question, he may but I think the Habs are better off burying Gomer in the minors and signing a big centre who can throw his weight around just a bit. We shall see but Scottie is turning himself into persona non grata with his indifferent play and the way the youngsters are outshining him lately.

Gomez will turn into a Chris Drury. 3rd line checker with little production.

Posting such a minor, team-centric question on the main board during a game is just bad form, and doesn't help our fanbase's image. I formally apologise for my colleague and his actions.

Desharnais-Pouliot-Darche is already our 2nd line.

This. Gomez is Gomez, Kostitsyn is ice cold right now and Eller wont develop playing with those two. The Frenchie line actually scores and generates chances.

Why is this on the main board. Pretty everyone else in the league doesn't give two sweet fiddles about the Habs.

Aren't the Habs the team that most other teams fans hate? At least that's the impression I get.

I know it sucks to take 7M up the ass (no matter how rich the Molsons are) but man oh man think of all you can do with that money if you just dump him in Hamilton.

It's a shame too. Blue line to blue line he may be the best puck carrier in the league. As for the rest of his game...

Part of a coach's job is to deal with flakes, and Martin should have NEVER broken up the Plekanec line when Kostitsyn was scoring goals at the start of the year.

Gomez is Holik 2.0

No heart, will go to the highest bidder, doesn't care about anyone except himself. Montreal would do well to dump his salary on some unsuspecting GM looking for a reclamation project.

Ride Gomez on the third line, after the PO send him in the minors and sign Brad Richards. See? That was pretty simple.

I could see him doing relatively well in Phoenix. His speed would compliment their style of play, they seem to lack a playmaking centre and Tippett could probably get the most out of him.

Tell us who that GM might be and we will gladly package Gomez to him. Hell we might even toss in a draft pick as a thank you.

What the ****. This is on the main board ?

If Martin weren't the coach, the centers would be

Pleks
Desharnais
Eller
Halpern
Guy sitting in seat 36 section E
Youppi
Gomez.

Gomez is suppose to be a two-way centre, while Andrei Kostitsyn is one dimensional, but Andrei shows better defensive awareness and back checks better than Gomez.

Definitely not the place to talk about this but Desharnais is on pace for 50 pts on a 82 games season. I'm not comparing him to St-Louis but there's some similarity, St-Louis took a little while to achieve the number he got in the past years and Desharnais is on pace to have a better seasons than the first 4 of St-Louis. If he can have 40-50 pts per seasons for the rest of his career this will be incredible for a player of his stature.

Maybe the mods can more this thread in the prospects forum?
