I'm not even sure where Lupul was going when he had is fingers on his chin-strap, and I've watched it like 6 or 7 times. Live in a split-second moment? Little tougher I'd say.
Missed parts of the game...didnt see the slapshot on subban? Was it really purposely shot at him and was boyce penalized for that? And how did it happen, during the play or during a break?! Thx and what do i hear about pax? He got hit from behind?! Thx for the updates cant seem to find anything on the net fof both events....

Leafs were already down a man with about 2 mintues left when Boyce(?) took a crosschecking penalty on Subban. After the whistle he shot the puck at PK but there was no call and we were already on the 5-on-3 anyway.
MaxPac was hit when he was turning next to the boards and Schenn cam in when he was in a semi-vulnerable position. It wasn't really dirty and I'm betting he only left because we were up 3-0 and JM and the trainers were being cautious.
It looks like they were both going to take off their helmets then Lupul looks like he is coming at Subban and he suddenly changes his mind maybe Subban thought Lupul was going to start throwing. We get to see it on video replay but on the ice facing each other you have to think quickly. It makes Subban look bad because he guessed wrong at how it was going down.
I think PK only intended on loosening the helmets strap (or the clip, what ever) so it can be taken off or fall off easily without possibly pulling on his ears. I guess Lupul thought he was going to completely take it off.
its unbeleivable that lupul would turn it into what he did, i CANt beleive people do this ****
your 100% right, BOTH are trying to take off the helmet, but lupul got WAY too close and it appeared as though hed start throwing early, so subban protected himself just in case and ends up swinging first
Lupul has lost all my respect, although you can say that happened the moment he became a leaf anyway
Yeah, I'm on board with this explanation. The first time I saw the fight, I thought Lupul took a shot at Subban first while PK was taking off his helmet, but what really happened was that Lupul skated right into him and PK reacted. It's a pretty dumb**** move to skate into your opponent while you're taking your helmet off, but whatever. I hope at least someone in the media points this out, but it's unlikely since it's the evil PK Subban and the newest Burkie boy involved.

CBC just gave their view of Lupuls assessment on the Suban fight which the conclude that Lupul feels Suban sucker punched him...tsn calls it a cheap ****.
Lupul is not a fighter but claims we was trying to take his helmet off. The only time i have really seen this move is a stagged tough guy fight! I feel this was poor judgement on Lupuls part and not a sucker punch by Suban...Lupul drops the gloves first.
Now I guess most of you understand what some of us meant, when we said Brian Burke was overrated, back when he was 'available'.
Talk about pathetic. He makes JFJ look like Sam Pollock.
I certainly never agreed with Burke's philosophy of trying to 'win it now' instead of rebuilding.
That being said, the moves he's made should've turned out better than they have. Beauchemain, Phaneuf and Komisarek along with Kaberle should have been much, much better than they turned out to be. Phaneuf in particular I thought would've turned things around.
Giguere I thought had some upside and even Kessel should've been better than we've seen.
With JFJ, his moves were just plain dumb. At least with Burke I can see where he was coming from. I didn't agree with his approach but he should've gotten better results from the deals he's made.

Thing is...all those D men, are essentially, plumbers. None of them are puck movers per se. And combine that with very crappy centers, and you've got a team that never gets the puck out of their end.
Last time Habs shut out the Leafs twice in a season... 1967-68.
Awesome game by the Habs tonight. Got a little chippy here and there but overall, Habs youth showed up again. Desharnais is quickly proving his worth. I love the way he sets himself up behind the net, waiting for his wingers to get in front of the net for a shot. His give and go with Gomez was a thing of beauty. Great speed to get to the net and beat the defenseman, and great hands to finish the play. Loved the pop he got from scoring the goal and from getting the first star. He's easily becoming a fan favourite.
On Lupul; If you don't want to pre-maturely start the fight before you remove your helmet, don't advance on your opponent. Bill Berg on the NHL Network said that if he was in the same situation, he would have popped Lupul as well. His comments made after the game were just absurd, and basically pouring gasoline on the fire that is hatred for P.K..
Two points to the Habs total. That's all that matters.

A sucker punch? More like they're drinking some screwed up punch. The guy took off his gloves first, they both had the gloves off and they were square to each other. How the hell can that be called a sucker punch? I guess the Habs players are just supposed to be punching bags to these idiots.

Lesson learned for Lupul... as soon as you drop your gloves be ready no matter if you think the guy is gonna drop his helmet or not. You can't drop your gloves, and then say "oh, i didn't know he was going to punch me", get real.

We've seen guys take off their helmets before fights too. However, I can honestly say, I've never seen a guy undo his helmet WHILE moving closer to the opponent.

Kaberle and Phaneuf aren't plumbers though. And as a whole, that defense along with Schenn projected to be a big tough physical bunch. They should be much harder to play against but none of them delivered. The worst possible scenario happened with each one of those moves. You'd think that at least one would pan out.
Like I said though, I didn't agree with his philosophy. And the sad truth is that the Leafs have given Boston picks and prospects that could potentially win them a cup or two over the next decade. Rask, Seguin + whatever else comes down the pipe is just such a huge ripoff. As much as we may enjoy TO being the doormats, Boston has benefited big time. And we're going to have our hands full with them as a result.
If we keep getting shutouts against the Leafs though, it almost makes it worth it.

Sore loser. Emphasis on both the 'sore' and the 'loser' parts of that sentence.
Talk about making excuses for losing a fight. Take your punches, and shut up.
