Eric Brewer to The Habs

Is he available? What would STL be looking for in return? I think he'd fit well in our severely depleted defense. Especially since most of the goals against are a result of both defenseman on the ice standing and watching.

Note: The following words should not appear in this thread: "Pacioretty", "Subban"... That is all.

Sure, but we need one of Oshie, Backes, Berglund or Perron.

Your pick.

Was funnier before the explanation

Is his wife from (or attached to St. Louis) because why wouldn't they want to raise a kid in Montreal?

That's the city, those stats don't include the suburbs, where everyone in St. Louis lives.

If everybody in St-Louis lived in the suburbs, doesn't the suburbs become the city?

Everyone lives in St. Louis area. Places like Chesterfield, St. Peters, St. Charles, etc. St. Louis city only has the lower class and rich areas; the suburbs is where the middle and upper class live.

So the kid has to be isolated his whole life.

Regardless of your excuses for the article, Montreal is a much better city for a family.

What are you talking about isolated? Have you ever been to St. Louis. Everything that there is to do isn't in bad parts of St. Louis.

There was a little sarcasm in the Montreal comment, so how bout everyone stop bashing cities because that is just stupid. If you have never been here or lived here, you shouldn't make comments.

Everyone who knows anything about St. Louis knows that it is a suburb based place because the city and county do not see eye to eye and everyone lives in St. Louis County and not the City.

This is based on first-hand knowledge I'm sure...

For your knowledge, there is St. Louis City and St. Louis County. If Brewer's kid were to be raised in St. Louis County, he'd be "isolated" by 2.2mm people. The city is home to less than 400,000 people.

If you're using child rearing as a criteria for selecting an NHL city in which to play a person could do a helluva lot worse than Edmonton. Maybe Brewer should think about the Oilers.

yes i've spent time in St Louis. please do not even go there in comparing montreal to st louis. St louis is easily one of the most violent, racially charged cities in North America while montreal is a safe, multi-cultural cosmopolitan city. I actually liked St Louis, but comparing downtowns is pathetically laughable. it's 100% clear you've never spent a minute in Montreal. and spare me the absurd suburb comment. most suburbs are 'safe' that's why they're suburbs - wealthy and middle class people move to 'them' but the phenomenon of inner city is mostly american. big Canadian cities like Toronto and montreal have vibrant downtown areas - where affluent and blue collar people actually live together.

St Louis is vastly different than other cities in that St Louis city is not part of St Louis county pretty much every major city in NA is part of a county and not their own seperate entity. The city has no money lots of crime and low population. The city could fall of the face of the earth and most people wouldnt notice. Pretty much everything is in St Louis county, most of the players live in the western side of STL county aka west county, where the crime rates are low and the environment is vastly different than the city even though they are only serperated by a couple miles its two completely different worlds.

Back on topic: Brewer is a UFA, so he (like all other rentals) doesnt want to/wont move his family for a few months then have to move again. Rentals leave their families behind and live in a hotel until the end of the season. He doesnt want to leave his wife alone with a new born for a few months, and he wants to be resigned by the Blues. Therefore Brewer has said he doesnt want to wave his NTC bc he doesnt want to be away from his wife and kid for several months, regardless of the cities crime rates.

Also STL has a very large % of former players that have stayed in the city, more than most teams.

Wrong!

Too many st. louisians have no clue about the where crime occurs, who lives where or what other cities are like. They just regurgitate what they hear from the media, which is frequently based on low-quality sources.
