I say Cally and Dubi both finish with 55+ if neither get hurt. It's a shame too, because Dubi and Callahan especially deserve to have 60 point seasons for how hard they play and it's very possible they would've reached it.
Ryan Callahan is at 42 points, eclipsing his career high in only 51 games. He also takes the NYR lead in goals with 21, 1 off tying his career high. 10 of his goals are on the power play.
Marian Gaborik is one goal shy of becoming the 4th Ranger to hit 20 goals.
Brandon Prust's 5 shorthanded goals at the most any Ranger has had since 2001, when Theo Fleury had 7 shorties in one season. Since that point, no Ranger had gotten more than 3 in any one season, Matt Cullen being the only post lockout Ranger to get that number.
Brandon Dubinsky with a career high 46 points. One more goal sets his own personal record.
The Rangers currently have 177 goals allowed with 10 remaining.
They gave up 218 each of the last two seasons. The lowest total in "modern history" (I looked as far back as 1990) that the Rangers have allowed was 199 in 07-08. If we play shutdown, we have a chance to beat that total. Itis also likely we will pass last season's 222 gf, and we have already tied 08-09's 210.
I don't know about anyone else but I've been long waiting for this. It's a barometer for me when it comes to a player, the team, and their depth.
This season we have Gaborik who has done it before, Dubinsky, Prospal( who would have gotten 50 points per his pace and did it last season), and Callahan who would've smashed it. That's 4 players.
Next season I see Anisimov cracking 50, and possibly Stepan.
Wolski has 32 points in 65 games. He has also gotten a 50 point season(in COL) and many 45+pt seasons with less than 82 games being played. He too should be in the mix.
For next season....
I think you have a possibility of having 6 players cracking 50+ points
I think you have a good chance of having 5 players with 50+ points next season.
........You have a great chance of seeing 4 players w/ 50+ points
........You have a lock for 3 players having 50+ points
So on and so forth...
If we add Richards to the mix without messing with much of the names above, that obviously changes the equation and bumps up the chances/amount of players.
