Excellent points from a Yahoo article explaining Lemieux's hypocrisy:
Quote:
The problem is, you can’t take Friday night in a vacuum. Who led the league in fights entering Sunday’s games? The Penguins, with 61, according to hockeyfights.com. Who led the league in penalty minutes? The Penguins, with 1,101. Who led the league in majors? The Penguins, with 63. Who ranked second in game misconducts? The Penguins, with eight – two fewer than the first-place Islanders. Who was one of four teams with a match penalty? The Penguins.

That's fantastic.

Makes that A-hole in Pitt that much bigger.

My response is, where was Lemieux when Cooke took that cheap shot on Fedor Tyutin last week?? Or where was he when Cooke ran Savard with that cheap hit last year??

In my eyes, boarding a player at a high speed is much more dangerous than anything that happened friday night... Tyutin could of had his career ended with that hit... and Savard's career was pretty much ended with that hit...

Lemieux is a hypocrite........ he likes to see his team dish it out but cries like a ***** when there are repercussions to be paid...

I agree completely.

Those hits on both Savard and Tyutin could have absolutely killed them or permanently injuredy them (in the case of Savard, that seems to be the case).

Unfortunately, I have to listen to ass clowns like Lemiuex and those deuche bag Pitt announcers as they freak out over what the Isles did.

They're the disgrace.

Tough choice but I had to go with 'tell your players not to laugh'.

I come in peace, lemuix is the ultimate hypocrite, and if he were to cut his connections with the league nobody would give two *****.

Personally my response would be: you employ Matt Cooke, enough said.

My response to Mario???

Thank you.

Thank you for making me realize my team's owner isn't the only joke in the National Hockey League. Thank you for letting me laugh at the antics and statements of another NHL franchise other than the one I root for. And thank you and your team for giving me a renewed interest in the Islanders (I have Grabner to thank also for that).

It had been hard for years to be proud of my hockey team. The last time was probably Al Arbour Night...before that? The Isles-Toronto series. Maybe the Dubie save in the shootout that launched the Isles into the playoffs. But this was yet another proud moment. Did Gillies/Martin take it too far...I think so. But I know I had this distaste in my mouth watching the Penguins bench yuckin it up on the bench after Johnson broke DiPietro's face. I can only imagine how the Islander players felt after seeing it. We have an idea...and that was what transpired Friday night. Message sent, don't go into Long Island thinking you're going to run the score up on us and rough up our players.

Hey Mario! ****tsbhurg would not even have a team if Bettman did not bail you out and make your franchise the ideal for the new NHL.
Your team plays like a bunch of arrogant eh-holes.
The only shame was Cindy was not there to get his butt whupped.

Lemieux is probably the single greatest player I've seen play the game, but he always was a bit dramatic with the quotes.

Friday night was a disgrace to hockey, huh?

From the guy who initially refused to sign with Pittsburgh when he was drafted?

From the guy who had Ulf Samuelsson riding shotguy with him for many years, Lady Byng calibre player that he was?

From the guy gives Matt Cooke, Brooks Orpik, and Max Talbot a paycheck?

Friday was a disgrace, huh?

I have seen a lot of Pitt games this season. It does not surprise me in the least bit that they got flipped out on. Mario should take his nonsense and get stuffed.

Law laying it down. I came on here to write this very thing.

On NHL Network, supposedly the Twitter universe has come out hard on Leimieux's comments to the point where they ever brought up Cooke, and the announcers said basically he was being hypocritical.

I like it. Friday night could be a game-changer, and not just for the Isles.
