Montreal set to scout Nashville for 3 games this week

Including Asst GM, and on Thursday, GM will be there as well:

http://www.examiner.com/nashville-pr...home-this-week

I disagree with Jim Diamond that Sulzer is the focus of their interest-- I can't imagine them sending such a heavy delegation for a number 6 or 7 defenseman.

And before anyone suggests it, no, they're not getting Weber or Suter

I wonder if the Preds are looking to perhaps re-unite the Kostitsyn brothers? I wouldn't be crazy about the idea, since things are going so well for Sergei--I'd hate to introduce a potential distraction for him.

If anything, Sergei is the distraction. No need to worry about Andrei!

Something around Dumont for AK?

Probably Dumont for AK. Dumont is having a miserable season and is 32 with a 4 million dollar cap-hit for another season. AK is under-performing (and floats at times) but is still 26 years old and has less of a cap-hit than Dumont.

May as well do it but i think it benefits Nashville more than the Habs. AK has more potential.

I wouldn't touch Dumont at 4 million a year. Habs be looking for a physical forward or a defensman. Could be a puck mover or a defensive d-ma.

I am pretty sure Mtl scouts are looking a defenceman. I would not be surprised if they are specifically looking at O'brien as we have been interested in him for some time now. Another option might be Cody Franson. You heard it here first

I kind of wonder, since Montreal is one of the few teams I could see Dumont waiving to go to(unfortunately very happy in the Nashville area), Nashville giving up an asset simply to get Montreal to take the salary. Even if he had to be bought out this summer, Montreal is more in a position to do so than Nashville.

Dumont has had a bad year, yes, but he's also not been given much of an opportunity to correct it. With Goc and Svatos coming back this week, he's looking at a potential healthy scratch.

If I had to guess, there is a package deal being set in place for one of Montreals forwards...

If I had to guess, it is probably centered around Sulzer or Franson with either Ward or Dumont added in plus Nashville's 2nd

Shane O'Brien would make the most sense to me.

Dumont can still produce, but he is getting 5-8 minutes a game with the likes of Jerred Smithson. This has been an year-long occurrence. He needs a new address in a bad way.

Nashville can't afford to give up SOB or Franson without a defenseman coming back. And if it's Franson, it's going to be a sizable piece coming back.

Nashville would have to sweeten the deal if we're expected to take Dumont and his cap hit.

I just know that the second AK leaves the Montral fishbowl, he is going to start lighting it up and playing to his potential.

Would love to trade for Shane O'Brien. He would be exactly what we would be looking for.

Dumont + SOB = Spacek + AK + Kristo

(way out there?) lol

I have to say, that's tempting.

There's probably a few players on Nashville that they're checking out.

A deal with Dumont and AKost as the principals would make some sense.

At the same time, the Habs probably want to evaluate Franson and O'Brien. Franson has pretty nice stats, except that he's only averaging 15 minutes a game, which is really low for a defenseman. So there may be hope that the Preds would be willing to move him, and that Franson (due to his size and offensive talents) would be a good fit for us. And O'Brien could add some sandpaper to our squad that is sadly lacking.

I can see something like that happen even if personally i wouldn't do it. Not because i want to keep AK46 , far from it actually , but because Dumont is actually worse then him stats wise while making more than AK does.

I'd rather just try to find another solution or just tolerate AK46 until this summer.

As for O'Brien and Franson , i think those two could be interesting but it all depends on the asking price.

The 4 million cap hit is huge to Habs considering they are carrying Gomez also. That would make over 11 million next year they have on cap for virtually nil return on ice

Nashville is in the thick of the playoff race in the West I don't see any of Nashville's good roster players being traded right now. This summer is a different story, you heard it here first..
