If you remove Pickard for Charles-Olivier Roussel (if you want we can remove the conditional pick for a sure pick), we have a deal !

Blum could go on to long NHL career. But appears kind of soft for NHL. We have similar prospect in Carle. They may be interested I am not sure, maybe as a fall back trade incase plan A fails. Then trade Kostitsyn for a late first round pick or a top prospect on another team. Like him or not he is still a 25 goal scorer. A change of scenery may get a good stretch run out of AK.

I remember Roussel from his days with the Cataractes he kind of played with phsical edge to his game.

To Nashville
Andrei Kostitsyn
Yannick weber
1st pick
Kristo

To Montreal
Hornqvist
Franson

Don't like the fact of trading for an aging Dumont whose better years are behind him whereas Kostitsyn is entering his prime.

I like Hornqvist he would be a nice fit in montreal always in front of the net.
No... zero interest in dealing Hornqvist

Nashville wants their own banner than you very much.

And would you dry clean the banner before delivery?

We'll give you the 93 banner. Its the newest. The rest are starting to mold. The 93 banner still has Patrick Roy's cologne on it. Eau de Roy!

Is Erat available? We like our Czechs here. Nobody has mentioned him so I assume he Preds don't want to trade him

Thinning, with the recent graduations of Subban and Weber. We also have a lot of holes to fill this summer (4 current defensemen are unrestricted) so it could work.

Nashville will have the following next year:

Weber RFA
Suter UFA
Boullion
Klein
Franson

In Milwaukee

Jon Blum
Roman Josi
Charles Olivier-Rousell
Ryan Ellis
Mattias Ekholm
Jeff Foss (NCAA d d-man)

In all honesty, Josi is the #1 dman prospect with Ellis being 2nd. Ekholm is riding a rocket towards the top. Blum is slipping.

Not to me.
He's becoming a casualty of the numbers game in our top-6 and he doesn't backcheck hard enough to have any use on the bottom 6, imho.

Don't know Tootoo's situation but AK could benefit from the change of scnenery and offer a little offensive upside to the Preds.

I can't watch him drag that piano around anymore.

BUT.

J-P Dumont isn't part of the equation for Montreal. There's no way they will (i hope to god) take on a player with another year at 4 mill who is at his age, injury history and current level of play. That's not even considering that you are giving up a 26 year old with size, skating and great hands, even if he's inconsistent.

AK would fetch far more than that, and more than that and Sulzer as well. Sulzer does not have the value of a roster player in return. If he's the target it's for a mid-pick or mid-level prospect.

SOB might also be of interest. But he's a UFA and again, AK being a RFA means he has way more value.

If AK is involved it would HAVE to be more like Franson. I'm not saying it's a 1-1 deal, but i think that it becomes in the same ballpark.

The other, more shocking, option would be a blockbuster for Shea Weber (Montreal obviously adding a heck of a lot more). But before the Preds fans get upset with me I agree he's not going anywhere and that is HIGHLY unlikely unless there is some sort of hush-hush issue behind the scenes we are unaware of.
I agree with your whole post, but especially the bolded part. We're in no rush to trade A Kost, and I understand that Nashville is in no rush to trade Franson. The thing is, you have to trade potential for potential, and I don't think O'Brien or Sulzer are really any good..they're bottom pairing d-men at best. Andrei Kostitsyn just turned 26 and has the potential to be a very good player on a team that can use him better. Dumont is older, gets paid more, and has similar stats...how would this benefit Montreal except for the fact that he's Quebecois?

Anyways, we'll see what happens...but a Kostitsyn for Dumont or O'Brien or Sulzer trade does not seem to be in Gauthier's style...Also, why add Yannick Weber to that? He's only 22 and playing better every game.

I'd love a blockbuster trade of Akost++ for Weber. Nashville would have to consider it because they could really use any offensive help to get to the po's and make some cash.

Akost, 1st, Spacek, (prospect) for Weber, (prospect/mid round pick)

Also a 3rd for Kovalev to replace akosts "production"

Omfg I'm a trade wizard.

Pretty sure he meant Nashvilles. Not sure why Nashville would want our Weber when they are stacked to the rafters with exciting young / prospect d-men.

I like both deals.

I hate Spacek and think Picard, for the most part does a better job.

Akost is the only hard player to lose. (well, Weber is too, as he's been doing very well.)

Personally, I'd do the 2nd deal (akost, spacek for Dumont, Blum/Sulzer and Pickard) then ship Pickard to, say, Chicago ? They might trade a guy like Brouwer. Though, it probably won't be until the off-season.

We have to pay a little more to Dumont than Spacek, but we get 2 prospects (I'd take Blum) and one helps fill out a whole. We have virtually no goaltending prospects.

You take Spacek's cap, we'll take Dumonts.

That means our team will need a D though and your team will need a forward.

I don't want Andrei gone especially not to be re-united with his brother where they become a future poor mans Sedin's

But trust me Nashville fans if you get AK you should be thrilled, the kid is going to be a star just looks like here won't be the case.

Oddly enough though I'd be happy to get Dumont, I think he'd turn it around on our team

That being said:

Spacek + AK for Dumont + Tough Responsible D + Pick.

You win the Dumont for AK deal cleanly imo but would be losing the D for Spacek deal cleanly. I think AK will be worth more to you over Dumont than the new D will be to us over Spacek though, so a pick would be needed to get the deal done imo.

Blum adds little value why? He's an extremely talented defensive prospect.

You're not the only one to not get it.

If Montréal can, they'll go for Charles Olivier-Roussel. I'd like Blum, though.

Spacek has a NTC, though. It is limited.

Why trade for AK? He and SK didn't work on the Habs and he isn't going to be a star if he's placed from a defensive minded system into a team that employs a trap..
