"Ted's a people person. He's very good with people," Shero said by telephone Tuesday. "He's someone [who says] 'What can I do to help you? How can I make your job easier?' That's his management style. He's a helper, not a meddler. ... He's a proponent of if you're selling tickets, do your job. If you're running the hockey team, we trust you to run the hockey team. He wants to know what he can do to help you."

"He saw inside and out with the Penguins during our rebuild," former Penguins GM Craig Patrick said by telephone. "He was there for the whole thing. He's a good guy for your organization whether he's the president, CEO or whatever it might be."
Quote:
Black, a lawyer, was the Penguins' vice president for legal affairs after Mario Lemieux took over the team in 1999 and remained until 2008. He was part of the Pens' upper-management team that decided to allow Patrick's contract to expire in 2006 after 17 years with the organization. Lemieux made the final call.

Patrick and Black have maintained a strong relationship.

"He's a great family guy, a great organizational guy," Patrick said. "He was very helpful on the hockey side in terms of helping me with contract issues. He knows how organizations run."

It's too early to say whether Patrick, still held in high regard in Pittsburgh, could be in line for a job in some capacity in Buffalo. Pittsburgh's struggles led to high draft picks under Patrick before they grew into one of the NHL's better teams under Shero and a Stanley Cup champion in 2008-09, a year after Black left the organization.

Reading that article, I wonder if Pegula has tabbed Black as Team President?

And since Black and Patrick get along.....

Black as Team President
Patrick as VP in charge of hockey Ops??

Hmmmm.........

Speaking of the Empire idea, they were talking yesterday about the challenge of getting their games to fans in Southern Ontario due to the Leafs.

How about creating Empire 2.0 as an over the air channel and not a cable/dish channel?

The best method would be getting themselves back onto one of the old UHF channels carried by Ontario cable companies (like they did back in the day on Ch 29 and later on 49). If they make it easy, ie. available without an antenae, they will get viewership.
