All Trade Proposal/Rumours/FA Talk - TRADE DEADLINE VERSION - Kaberle Going?

To Carolina: Flyers 3rd Rnd Pick

To Toronto: Ian White

Burke HAS got to replace Kaberle when he's traded, Ian White was one of the few who really flourished under Wilson. I'm confident that White is on Burke's radar. Whether it be now, or during the offseason when he's a UFA.

We would really have to add to Colborne to get Schenn. I would be happy to bring in Colborne though, hopefully with a pick.

Not just the flames, I said this in a different thread. The Kessel trade is overshadowing how well Burke is actually doing.

When Burke stepped onto this team, he really had minimal assets to work with. This is what he's done though.

Out: Stalberg, Didomenico and Tlusty (beauchemin included, but he was a free wallet so to speak)

In: Lupul, Gardiner, Conditional pick from Anaheim, 2011 Philly 1st, 2011 Philly 3rd

Pretty damn good for Stalberg, Dido and Tlusty.

If he were to reacquire Ian White.

Out: Stalberg, Dido, Tlusty, Stajan, Mayers and Hagman

In: Phaneuf, Lupul, Gardiner, Conditional pick from Anaheim, 2011 Philly's 1st, Aulie

Again, not to shabby. Obviously that is IF White were to come back to Toronto.

Tons of teams would figure out a way if it meant Tavares, who could be one of the better players in the league in a couple of years.

It's not like the cap hit is $6M. It's workable.
Buy out?! That's $45 million! It's still a boat load of cash at half the amount. Any GM would have to run this by ownership first to make it happen and I think most of the owners would say no, even for Tavares -- Tavares is not even in the league of Crosby or Ovechkin. I'm sorry, but right now, DiPietro is not even worth $2.25 million, let alone you would still have to pay him for another 10 years. The guy is already 30 years old and is made of glass. When a team like the Hawks could ride a no-name like Niemi making peanuts to the Cup, why would any team take on DiPietro and his contract?

Buy out was just one of the options i listed, not what i suggested.

The point is, if Tavares was in the deal, teams will make room. $2.25 from re-entry would be a great sacrifice to make if getting one of the best young players in the game. Tavares may not be in the Crosby/Ovechkin territory, but he has the potential to be a tier below that.

I hear what you are saying; I would love to have Tavares play for the Leafs, but DiPietro's contract is untouchable.

Would you really not take on that contract if it meant Tavares?

We could easily bury him if need be.

So...Boston just traded for Chris Kelly. This could give them more flexibility adding another center. But this means something is up, a forward may be on their way out.

Bob just confirmed that trade for Chris Kelly means Boston needs to move bodies...one or two to complete the deal.

So...last game for Kaba?

Bogasian wants out of Atlanta

Kypreos just stated he wants out of Atlanta and it would be in their best interest to trade him now. The kid has big time potential, what would be a reasonable deal?

Well, they will only need to move around $1.75M, so it can be done with one player. Blake Wheeler is a suspect, and makes $2.2M, so he alone would be enough.

Wheeler is not a fit in Burke's top 6/bottom 6 system. He's a downgrade to our current top 6. I just don't see a fit for him at all.
We need either a) a center (which Boston doesn't have), b) a prospect, or c) a pick.

Kid has all the potential in the world to be a great defenceman. Depends on the price, but we need centres not D...especially D that play the right side
