Daley's body language has been ****ing miserable tonight.
Not as miserable as some of the other guy's.
I heard right earlier when they said Ott was playing hurt, right? They made a reference to him not bein at 100 percent but my stream got choppy right after and I didn't hear if there was an elaboration.
First time I've ever seen Eriksson screaming for the puck before.
It's not like he would have shot anyway. He would have held up and tried to find Richards even though he's not even there. Loui doesn't even look to shoot anymore, he plays so timid with the puck now and defers every time he touches the it. I'm surprised when he shoots on a breakaway.
Welp, when your best scorers are going to be soft, mentally absent and can't be the game-changers you need them to be, then you're not going to win many games. And when you can't kill a penalty, you're going to struggle on the road where you don't get the benefit of the doubt on calls.
If there's one thing I hate to a somewhat irrational degree, it's mentally soft players, and James Neal is as mentally soft as they come right now. He either needs to pull his head out of his butt and start producing goals for a team that desperately, desperately needs them, or he needs to get off the ice and let someone who will at least put all his shots on net take his place.
Ugh. He's just... Eriksson is producing at a slower drip than normal, and so are Morrow and Ribeiro, but at least they're producing. With so much offense on the shelf, he just has to be a difference maker if he wants to be a top-line guy. I would like him to get scorching hot, but honestly, this team needs him to stop being Streaky McStreakerson and start producing at a steady clip. Just one more goal per game against Phoenix or CBJ gets them points, and timely scoring from him tonight could have made all the difference.
I have two voices in my head. The first is screaming SELL. We aren't going to win anything this year even if we make it into the playoffs barring a Halak-like performance from Lehtonen. Richards is going to walk for nothing. If we could get the Toronto 1st+another high value asset for him I'd do it.
The second is saying we are out your most important player and 3 other important pieces. We haven't been healthy since this streak started and we still have all of March that was going to decide this division regardless of what has gone on before it. Richards Grossman and Benn will be back soonish. If we were told we sneak into the playoffs prior to the season, we'd all have been thrilled.
