Avalanche-Thrashers

To Avalanche:

Zach Bogosian

To Thrashers:

Chris Stewart

This trade makes sense to me as an impartial party. Avalanche need defense; they get Bogosian and can have a young defensemen to build their defense around for the next decade.

Stewart goes to Atlanta and can reunite with his brother. He also is a Top 6 player that the Thrashers desperately need.

The Thrashers might have to add a pick or a prospect or something, but I think this is the best trade if Bogosian is going somewhere. Anyone agree/disagree?

As a Avs fan I would be willing to trade Stewart for a guy with potential like Bogosian, but I don't know if the Avs are.

I would do

Stewart
Cumiskey (Fastest skater in the league, needs a good defensive partner to succeed.)

for

Zack Bogosian
Kendall McFaull
2nd 2011

???

Even if Stewart is unavailable the Avs still have tons of forwards with top 6 potential.

It's cause h's black isn't it? jk...Stewart's value really depends on if he can come back from his wrist injury fully, he could be a 30 goal man if he gets back in top shape, while Bogosian is still a raw talent.

What are Thrashers adding to Bogosian to get Stewart?

The trade does make sense, but I'd really hate to lose Stewart. He's primed to become our top winger for the future, and when Hejduk eventually retires, his role will be even more critical. Before busting his hand on a scrub's head, he was en route to a 30-40 goal season. He's struggling now, as is the entire team, but I've heard he's still playing with a cast on. In any case, if Stewart is the only option to land Bogosian, Atlanta would definitely need to add something else of value.

Anothing thing to consider: the Avs are already a pretty soft team, especially in the top-6, and are too easy to play against at times. Losing Stewart makes this even worse.

stewart has way higher value than bogosian, but if this trade was made atlanta is not going anywhere in the near future because they'd of got their superstars in place with byfuglien, kane, and stewart. avs 1st(5-10 range I think?)+joey hishon seems like a decent trade for both sides tbh. if the pick becomes 7th-10th overall I think colorado would do that deal.

No way would we trade our first this year.

Jones+Stoa+Silas+3rd for Bogosian is fair imo.

Atlanta gains 2 top 6 forwards, a 2-way d, and a draft pick.

i think that if the aves threw in a second rounder, then it could possibly go through, overall it has a solid foundation to be a minor blockbuster deal

2 top 6 forwards? Jones has had major injury problems and Stoa's a top 6 forward in the AHL not the NHL (though he could be in the future but hardly a guaratee) and Silas is a long way off the NHL if he makes it at all. Your proposal isn't close to fair.

Considering Bogosian's struggles and the rumors about him wanting a fresh start, it would be absolutely foolish for Colorado to throw in anything on top of Stewart.

This is true, but we are also very soft on the back end, Bogo is probably just as mean/tough as stewart, just a different position.

I think your undervaluing these players talent imo.

Jones: Yes he has had the injury bug, but this season he has looked very good, strong, and drives to the net hard. Potential 30 goal scorer and will get there.

Stoa: Like Grabner, Stoa is basically useless if he's not on the top 2 lines and in Atlanta he will be and played pretty good for us when he was called up. Had 3 goals in 6 games average 14 minutes per game, think if he's average 18-20 minutes.

Silas: Has good potential to become a good 2-way 3-4 spot defenseman. Prospects always have that bust percentage, but some times GMs have to take a gamble and it happens a lot in real life.

3rd pick: If they have a good scouting draft they will make it count.

I would be willing to add another player or prospect, but this proposal is not bad at all.

Too much on the quantity, not enough on the quality. I don't think Atlanta is interested in acquiring a bunch of question marks.

I understand wej's reservations. I would love to focus on Jones as a centerpiece however. He's only missed 4 games this season, and will most likely hit 25, even though he hasn't had consistent ice time or linemates.

Can't you just take the Avalanche's top 5 pick this year instead?

Sums it up really, young 65 point PWFs are not a cheap commodity and there were far too many question marks in your offer.

I think you're overrating our guys. That's a bad deal for Atlanta.

As for the original deal, no thanks. It's not a bad offer but the Avs can't trade Stewart. He was on pace for 30-40 goals and I think he was top 10-15 in scoring when he got hurt. He hasn't been playing well since returning but I think he'll be back to form next season.

I'd be willing to do something like....

Liles, Jones, and prospect/pick for Bogosian.

or

Liles and Hishon for Bogosian.

Maybe something around Shattenkirk? I have no idea what Atlanta would want in return. If they're not looking for an offensive defenseman then you can just ignore those proposals.

Don't think Atlanta would do either one of those deals but the Avs don't really have much to offer. Our "untouchables" are probably Stastny, Duchene, Stewart, and our 2011 1st round pick. So that leaves Liles, Jones, Shattenkirk, Hishon, etc.
