I wouldn't, I think Grabo hasn't hit his ceiling. I could see him being one of the better 2nd line centers. You also break up a line that has amazing chemistry.
If the plan was to trade Grabo, I'd probably say yes to this. I sincerely hope that isn't the plan however, Grabo has quickly become a fan favourite and the Leafs best forward all season.
You should have been here last year when most fans woulda shipped him off for a fifth.
Is Grabovski really worth that much? I admit I don't follow the leafs very much but that return seems insanely high.
The Caps are going to have to over-pay for any player they try to make a move for. If they really want a chance at the cup this year, they need a 2nd line center with experience. Mathieu Perreault and Marcus Johansson are good prospects, but are just not ready.
Pass. Fehr is soft as warm butter, perrault not a major contributor and the 1st is late. Grabo is a guy that goes to work hard every night he plays; he's tenacious and feisty. He's young and just what the Leafs need.
On a side note, I don't think Grabo is a good fit for Washington; he doesn't maximize the effectiveness of his line-mates and is much more of a goal-scorer than he is a set-up man. Washington already has two elite goal-scorers (Ovie and Semin)
I'd really like to see Grabovski in Washington, but not at that price. Two NHL pieces (including one of only two RWs currently signed in Washington for next season), a top prospect, AND a 1st? Wow, no thanks.

Johansson is looking exactly like Backstrom in his first year in the NHL. He is our future 2nd line center. Let's just trade for a rental 2C this year and test Marjo next year.
Just what the Caps need, a center who can;t win faceoffs or play defense. We have that, his name is Perreault. You have us trading him plus a crap load more for a more expensive version.

Hey.. if you've never watched Grabo play then just say so.
Grabo is a backchecking fiend. You'll notice he's one of the few plus players on our team.. a team that is pretty bad offensively and terrible defensively.

Not really. Maybe he looks good on the Leafs, but he has 33 takeaways. Not really the great level this trade would portray him as.
He also doesn't really hit (less than MoJo) and doesn't block shots. Not much of a two way center. Sorry.

people talk out of their arses...
i'll happily keep garbo, but the offer isn't horrible.
Dmitri Orlov
Eric Fehr
Mathieu Perreault
1st Round pick 2011.
Capitals need to go all in if they want to make a cup run this season.
Leafs will rebuild with a solid core of players plus another first round pick.
Discuss.
It's a good offer and what it would take to pry a guy away at his peak. Even at that I doubt the Leafs would blow it up like this, they just don't have any other centers.
No thanks. Management has already stated being in the race year after year, not going all in. We're not real contenders until we have our superstars score and trades don't fix that. Sorry, but Caps pass.

I'd prefer quality over quantity though...
If you don't think Orlov is quality, you're smoking something.
Edit: This is basically the same deal that some Dallas fans were saying they'd take for Brad Richards earlier in the season. Completely ridiculous overpayment for Grabo.
I too wouldnt mind having grabo but not at that price. Caps get smoked. People forget that fehr when healthy if ever is playing on the 2nd sometimes 3rd line. On the leafs he would be more productive then grabo. He would be on the first line prolly scoring 30 40 goals. More experience, better shot. Havent watched grabo play this defensive game mentioned above but I still think he will be a good player. The most I would give up for him is Perrault and a first or a prospect and a first. Even then I dont know. Were trading youth for youth. Whose to say on a decent team, not a great team but a decent team grabo cant crack the 2nd line or produce like he is. Its easy to play well when you have no pressure of any kind on you because the leafs were eliminated at the start of the season. Who knows though?
