Brodziak

What is behind his recent surge in points? I always thought he could be a 40-50 point guy....is this just a hot streak or is this something you think he could mantain?

He's playing with a boatload of confidence, and he's finally burying the chances that Havlat and/or Bouchard set up for hit.

I don't expect him to keep up his last 10-15 game pace, but he's got it in him in streaks.

If he had a little more consistency...... He'd be a heck of a player. He's got a really subtle playstyle, but it's effective. He totally understands that "get to the quiet area" thing, he just doesn't always have the finishing to make it worthwhile.

I agree with pretty much everything Vashanesh said.

He's been a nice add for the Wild and Fletcher. Brodziak has a nice combination of skating ability and size. He's lacking in the stick skills department but where he's playing that's not really a concern. He just needs to get in and bang to free up his more skilled line mates to do what they do. He's one of the few guys that has just seemed to click with Havlat since they started playing together.

It's not recent.

If anybody was paying attention last year, he did the same thing when he got time with Lats and Havlat. I don't have time to look up the numbers, but he put up like 25 points in 35 games with those two.

This year, he was stuck behind Madden for the first third of the year, and then, once he started playing with Havlat again, he started putting in the points.

Combine last year and this years time playing with Havlat, and Brodziak has like 50 points in 70 games or something.

That's legit 2nd line center quality points. Sucks about Koivu.

I agree with nickschultzfan, he did the same thing last year.

The only difference this year is it seems like he is burying a higher % of his chances, last year he would miss wide open nets with fanned shots.

Excellent pickup by Fletcher.

been saying it since last year too. Seems like everyone was just dismissing him out of hand with all the fantasy line proposals assuming his removal but he seems tailor made for Havlat and Bouchard. Repeating myself--he plays a simple game and sticks to it. which works well when he's playing with a couple of "fancy" players like Havlat and Bouchard. He stays out of the way, lets someone else create and tries to make himself available. God only knows how jumble****ed it would get if we got another creative center to play between Havlat and bouchard. Maybe it would work out, maybe not. maybe see one guy do better but the other two suffer. Second line center wasn't one of our biggest holes IMO but it seemed like it was #2 next to first line wing on everyone else's list.

Until this recent month's play; I myself considered him a product of havlat. But its becoming more and more obvious, that when he has confidence and plays his game, he'll make things happen on-ice

brodziak is the type of person to step up in times or situations of need, he goes hard in every shift and you can see it every shift.

with the koivu injury, expect brodziak to step it up even more.

Chemistry with Martin Havlat. It's much of the same situation as Koivu and Miettinen.

Brodziak made a run like this last year, so it's up to him to show some consistency.

As I said last year (and look it up) this kid is absolutely amazing to watch. He is the Clutterbuck that no one cares about but does so much more.

He's on the cusp of being more than just a hot player on a line with great skill guys. I'm not prepared to say he's a bonafide top six player, but it looks like he's elevated his hands and mind to his feet. He's always been a very good forechecker and had speed and strong defense, but he's shown some ability to actually finish and distribute the puck as well. Good complement to Havlat/Bouchard.
