I'm probably grasping for straws here, but the pair of Doherty- Gudbranson would be amongst the tallest and biggest in the NHL, and Thomas seems to rack up the points when he plays Kingston...

NCAA regionals start today

Michigan and Nebraska-Omaha today at 5:30pm. ESPN3.com

BC and Colorado College at 9pm. ESPNU.

Quote:
Kreider missed last weekend's Hockey East tournament because of a broken jaw, but is back on the ice practicing.

"If the Rangers called tomorrow," Starman said, "he could step into their top six (forwards)."

The Rangers won't be calling tomorrow. BC should win the West regional and advance to the Frozen 4 in two weeks. They'll be calling after the Frozen 4. The Rangers will be calling Alec Schall(advisor)about Carl Hagelin sometime tomorrow if Michigan doesn't win the West regional.

Boston College got a boost of morale and talent when it learned sophomore left wing Chris Kreider has been cleared to return for tonight’s NCAA Tournament game against Colorado College at the Scottrade Center.

“It was really a boost to all of us when Chris came out and not only put the uniform on in full gear, but the impact he had on practice,’’ said York. “He was really involved in all facets and he just makes us that much better of a club. You need your full arsenal when you go out and play these tournaments because you’re playing now the elite of the elite.’’

never assume advancement.

We have Kinkaid and Union at 3, Hagelin and Michigan at 6(ish), and then Kreider BC at night. Yale also plays Air Force in the mix.

Good news.

So if Kreider and Hagelin lose 1 game from here on out their season is done and they can be signed and then given ATOs?

Obviously not rooting for them to lose as the more they win the less they want, but, it would be great to get these kids to the Whale and going.

BC is a mentally tough team. Deep team. Always play well in big games. Defending champs. A handful of players graduated from last season. They know how to win. BC will beat CC and then the winner of Michigan-Nebraska Omaha. One of the BC players Brian Doumoulin(through his advisor)has already said he is staying for his junior year. Carolina owns his draft rights. Some of their other players such as Jimmy Hayes is rumored to be leaving BC to sign with the Leafs. Some of them rejected NHL contracts last season to stay another year in school and win again. After a certain amount of time, its time to think about your own future and turn pro.

Hagelin for sure.

What's the story with Kreider, who has eligibility remaining? Does he queer his NCAA status if he plays for the Whale? I know Greg Moore joined the 'Pack for the POs one year, but I can't recall for the life of me whether it was after his senior season (when eligibility would no longer have been a factor) or whether it was after an underclassman year and he was then able to return to his NCAA team the next season.

NCAA players cannot play any level of professional hockey without forfeiting their collegiate rights. That includes attending professional camps as well.

Really comes down to whether or not Kreider feels he's accomplished everything he can and is ready to move on. He loves BC, so I'm not sure it's a foregone conclusion that he'll turn pro this summer, no matter how badly the organization wants him to.

That being said, it's probably better for his development if he does turn pro.

They can attend camps as long as they pay their own way and do not miss any class time.

But that doesn't mean that his input doesn't have value.
Dude. Torts has an input on PRO players. Not amateur players. His input is minimal at BEST at the draft.

And yet you are putting all the blame for Lafleur on Allaire. Like I said, they didn't pick Lafleur based solely on Allaire's recommendation. It was a pick that went wrong, like many other picks before, and like many picks will in the future.

Neither you nor I knows how much Allaire might be involved in helping the scouts when it comes to drafting goalies. All I know is that Allaire is one of the most respected goalie coaches in the league. To shun his input because he recommended a player that busted is shortsighted.

BC's last day of classes is May 5th. Unless the Whale is going to be playing that long, I can't imagine Kreider signing an ATO to play a couple of games in the A, especially considering he's got a broken jaw that still needs to heal. (I know he's playing this weekend but still.)

You know, the more they win at school, the less of a reason they have to go back. If Kreider wins another title versus let's say he gets bounced in the title game, which one is gonna make him want to go back to BC more?

Union lost 2-0 today to Minn-Duluth.

Michigan is going into OT with Neb/Omaha. Game is tied at 2. Hagelin is scoreless.
