I'm going to get an up close look at Rangers camp invite Keith Kinkaid again tonight. He has had a stellar career so far.

Should have a short write-up on him later tonight.

Not familiar with him. Has he been drafted, is he projected to be drafted?

See he's a goalie. I'm an advocate of grabbing a goalie because i'm not high on any of the guys past Henke in the organization.

I'm fine with us grabbing a goalie...as long as it's not with a 1st or 2nd round pick.

Oh, I agree. I think I was talking about earlier in one of the prospect threads that I think a 4-7th rounder should be spent on a talented albeit unknown Euro goalie (Hank, essentially. ), or even a NA one if he slips to a later round. It's always good to have a good goalie in the pipelines, even with Hank being who he is and probably continuing who he is for a relatively long amount of time.

Kinkaid wasn't drafted by anyone. He's a free agent, and can sign with whoever he chooses. He was a Traverse City invite for us this past off-season.

The OHL website says the Owen Sound- Oshawa game is postponed. Hopefully it's due to weather...

From Oshawa's team site.

Quote:
Tonight's Generals game which was scheduled to be played in Owen Sound against the Attack has been postponed due to poor weather and road conditions around the Simcoe and Grey Bruce Regions.
The game has been rescheduled to be played tomorrow, Sunday, February 20th at 6pm at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
Generals fans who planned to make the trip and purchased tickets for tonight's game will have those tickets honoured for tomorrow night's game.

2-1 Northeastern, final, I just read the boxscore. Rawlings made 36 saves

Kreider 0 points, 2 pims for hooking.

Kinkaid plays the puck very naturally, is a good skater heading behind the net, has average vision through traffic, but tends to over commit to the shooter.

I was going to write a little bit more, but I'm too miffed from the team effort today to put in one myself.

Send a message via AIM to Glen Teflon Sather
I see Hagelin had the tying goal in final minute, and game winner in OT for Michigan

Yogan had his season debut with Erie tonight. Scoreless and was a -2 in an 8-3 win over Guelph.

That sounds hard to do.

Its too bad he had to miss basically the whole season.

Surprising. His debut was assumed to be next weekend.

Good to have him back, though. Erie could still be a playoff team, so he could get a handful of extra games.

Hagelin highlights. I love the end when the students bring out the swedish flag.

He cuts inside and uses the defender as a screen on both goals. Maybe he can teach Gaborik a thing or two

But seriously the last goal, where he rips it through the legs of the Dman and over the goalie's glove was incredible.

He's on the big club now, but I'm assuming a lot of you in here watched Stepan last season and prior years. I was watching WI v. MN the other night, and noticed that Kohl is a lot wider than other rinks (200 x 97), which I had not known.

Is it possible that the bigger surface helped Stepan's game as a playmaker, which we haven't seen that much of this year?

EDIT: I know that of course it would help him. But I mean HOW MUCH?

Marginal amounts.

NCAA rinks are very inconsistent in size. I've skated on a few that are too short, too thin, too wide, odd back boards, ect.

So consider that Stepan played only half of his games n the wider rink, and some in smaller rinks. Its too hard a thing to truly quantify.

But Stepan has shown he isnt going to be a pure playmaker at this level. He can pot 20 goals. But we'll see how the passing part of his game comes along.

The WJC's use NHL regulation rink size, right?

He was making plays out of his ass, there.

I just think it's been easier for Step to score than make plays because when he's scoring he's putting himself in smart positions to score. When he has to make plays, now it's him against top NHL d-men and even forwards who know how to stop a play from coming to fruition.

Let him get used to it.
