Can we still make the playoffs?

So our recent slump doesn't seem to be easy to get out of. With a demanding schedule in the coming weeks and less than 25 games left on the season for us, I'm not sure we can keep our playoff spot, and even if we get into the playoffs, realistically how far can we possibly go? Also, WHY ISN'T EMINGER PLAYING??!?!?!?!?! DEL ZOTTO COST US A LOSS AGAINST ATLANTA.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. We're still in 7th. But man we need to get these points today with us not playing again 'til Thursday.

We're in seventh and Carolina and Atlanta are both only 2 points away.

Carolina with 1 game in hand. Buffalo with 4 games in hand. If todays game isn't a must win I don't known what is.

By definition it's obviously not...but yes, it's pretty close. Unless we are trying to take the current losing streak title from Colorado it's time we won a game. lol

can we of course will we , sad to say with our remaining schedule and lack of finish most likely not barring major collpases from the teams below us . Carolina's D is suspect but Ward is rock solid and they have several players that consistently score . Skinner , Cole , Staal . Atlanta , us and Bufalo will be fighting for the 8 spot with the devils most likely falling short . we have 3 games left against Philly , a couple against the Devils including the last game of the season in a week we play the flyers , Boston , Atlanta . If we going to do it we need to string together at least 3-4 wins in a row several times over the next two months , and given our best stretch this year was a couple of 3 game winning streaks the reality is not looking in our favor . We are a great team to watch and root for because their are a lot of home grown kids and we stick up for easch other but we dont have a true first line. I hate to say it but if we had the rest of our team and the Islanders top line and an average PP it would be more in our favor .Tavares on a good team would net 40 plus easily . He has the touch around the net we lack , our players panic and miss open nets guys like Tavares and even PAP have been finsihing . sad to say PAP would be like our 3rd leading scorer and probably has more PP points then anyone on this team

Considering we are in the 7 seed. Atlanta and Carolina have been losing a lot lately, and MTL has not even been on top of their game. Of course we can make the playoffs, but we need to start winning soon. We just need to try and get a point out of every game. We have 25 games left. 32 points should get us in. 15-8-2 will do it. That is not out of the question by any means.

I think we can swing a win today against the Penguins, they literally have no more offense, other than their AHL affiliates who were called up.

I disagree, Why is it Del Zotto's fault?
Surely its not his fault we cant score goals.
Wasn't it Gilroy that fell down in the nuetral zone creating a 2-1 that resulted in Atlanta taking the early lead?

exactly we have just as good of a shot as Carolina, Buffalo, Atlanta and you know what they are not that far from 6th in the grand scheme of things. Winning 3 in a row will give us some confidence but it has to start ASAP

We can and we will. This is our rough patch. Lived through a 4 game home losing streak in Phoenix right before the All Star break and now they have won 5 straight and are 4th overall. I expect the ship will be righted soon (today) and we'll rip of a good run.

Del Zotto cost us the lead, but Gilroy put us in a hole early and often. Falling down and having MDZ have to defend a 2 on 1. Not much he could do except what he did, attempt to block the passing lane and make it hard for the guy to get the pass across AND get a good lane to the net.

I wanted Eminger in the line-up too, but for Gilroy, cause he has been a POS recently and needs a wake-up call as much as people think Del Zotto does.

I think we can... but if we cant beat this ****** penguins team that were playing right now, i dont believe we deserve to be in the playoffs.

Im not asking for a firesale at all or to even be buyers at the deadline. Leave the team as it is. lets hope we can deal some ****** players like gilroy and EC for draft picks and try to package some picks and some redundant prospects for a high first rounder or good young nhl ready players and get ready for next season.

Looking at it in a positive way....The Rangers have been downright horrid for a while now, and they are still in a playoff spot.

When this team starts winning again (which they will), they will create some separation.

Also, Lundqvist is always money in March.

I think they make the playoffs as the 6 or 7 seed.

I honestly think it would be more difficult to **** up their playoff spot than to lose it right now. This team playing the way it did all season has the ability to challenge both Montreal and Washington. If the get back to form, the question isn't "Are we in the playoffs?", it's "Do we have home ice?"

What? We played as many games as Thrashers, 1 more than Canes and 4 more than Sabres.

1. Gilroy was worse
2. Del Zotto had a simple young mistake, and it was a mistake that players make sometimes
3. Absolutely

Two more points for Buffalo and one point for Montreal in Buffalos OT win. IF Carolina and Buffola win their games in hand on the Rangers, Rangers will have the last playoff-spot with equal points with Carolina, but with more wins... Even Florida can get pretty close with a winning streak.... They also have 3 games in hand as Buffalo.

The Rangers need a winning streak now, Is a 3-4 game winning streak too much to ask for? A couple of big games against Carolina and Buffalo are coming up soon.

Well we had a pretty impressive win over the Penguins but like I said earlier we have a terrible schedule coming up. If Lundqvist plays to his potential against the Kings I think we will be able to swing a few goals in.

PUT THE PUCK IN THE NET!!!!!!

This team has had 1 that's right 1 losing streak this season. With all the injuries they've had and with as young of a defense as they're running, the youngest in the the league. They shouldn't even be where they're at, but they are. So focus on that.

Let them get past their losing streak, they happen. The team isn't going to continue losing 90% from here until the end of the season. Let them win 60% of their points as they've done for their collective average of the year and they're in.

So relax.
