Sometimes you have to look beyond networks and at the people. Sportsnet isnt less credible because of the snet name, their less credible because the guys that usually break stuff are kypreos and millard. TSN isnt credible because they are tsn, but rather because the guys breaking news are McKenzie, Dreger, and McGuire.
Ya seriously, Ian mendes is the best reporter for the sens.

The trade was confirmed by darren dregger 2 minutes after,I don't know why everyones panties are in a bunch about it, it's not like their going to make up a trade about a 6th rounder as a publicity stunt.

That's a pretty good point. Not a lot of teams can offer college UFA's a shot right away in The NHL.

Teams probably were only offering back similar salary, not many teams would wanna pay 1.3mil to get a decent 4th liner. Not a great trade but I'm pretty sure its the best we could do. As for why it didnt wait to the deadline: Melnyk said he wants to shed money.

I remember Scott Walker getting dealt out of CAR last year to WSH for a 7th round pick. Based on that deal, this deal seems right.

As a Sens fan, I'm with the majority. A 6th rounder is a poor and disappointing return for a legitimate/proven 3rd line winger.

Imagine if Brian Murray was trying to trade 7 or 8 people and didn't start till the morning of the trade deadline? Yeah, sounds messy.

"Sorry, Fisher. I was going to trade you so you could be closer to your wife but I ran out of time because I was pinching every penny."

Some of you people are so critical it really is kind of sad. Be happy Murray got anything for him.
Whatever, Mara has only dressed for 33 games this season.

Just because we're cleaning house for picks does not mean we should not expect Murray to maximize our players values.

...who was playing on the fourth line and often a healthy scratch...

You guys seriously need to get with the program on the actual return of these players. Too much emotion involved with the responses.

Anyone who thinks he's worth more than this is over valuing him.

6th, 4th, whatever. At that point it's a crap shoot anyway. See ya Ruutu.

Kinda surprised it didn't go to 4th or 5th, but not like I really care about that negligible difference.
This.

Kuba - 35 yrs old, UFA, minus -2, 2 goals, 8 assists, 10 pts in 50 games. I'm not sure those stats deserve more than a 6th but I like the intangibles that Ruutu brings. Unfortunately, like everyone else on this team he too had a bad yr & underperformed, it could have been worse it could have been a 7th or nothing. I wonder what Shannon is worth?

Are people really fussing over the difference between a 5th and a 6th?

It reminds me of that epic trade, when we landed all-star Martin Lapointe for a 6th rounder.

Those were the days...
