Was expecting this move after Selänne said that he feels that Ducks lacks spirit and passion. Ruutu brings thats to table!

Why this wasnt posted?

If 5 hits or incidents in a 10 year career make you a dirty player, then there are far worse and more dirty players in the league than clean players.
Except most of that happened in the last 2 years, not 10.....
Fans of the teams he PLAYS on call him dirty.

Murray sure likes his trades doesn't he? This seems to be a winner so far at least, a 6th is nothing really. Welcome aboard Jarkko, here's to hoping you can bring some energy to the table

Murray seems to be making a push for the playoffs. Hopefully Hiller's head complies.

You sure can't complain about all the dumps but there is still work to be done.

Can he play on the top line at all? Just wondering if they have plans on splitting up the top line and moving Ryan to another line, or is he relegated to the bottom two lines?

I wouldn't really try him on the top line. He's a great grinder 3rd or 4th liner and he'll score the occasional goal. His main game is to shutdown the other team and deliver hits.

I'd love to see a 4th line of Chipchura, Parros, and Ruutu... that would be akin to our 4th line in the cup run with May, Thornton, and Carter.

This guy is a POS dirty *******.

I guess Murray is going for the 2007 vibe of "every team will hate us. It's us against the world" mentality.

Knowing Murray, Cheechoo will be here next season. Nice and cheap scoring depth for the 3rd line. Never underestimate the moves of bargain bin Bob.

Marchant has needed to go since this season started. He's pretty much useless imo. Having someone in the lineup that can take faceoffs and do nothing else doesnt help the team no matter how good he is at faceoffs. And i say this not knowing at all what Marchants faceoff % is and i dont really care to look it up.

I got your back:

Faceoffs Won - 155
Faceoffs Lost - 178
Faceoffs Taken - 333

46.6%

Marchant still leads all NHL forwards in Shorthanded TOI with 3:51 per game.

The problem is that's 2nd on the team, everyone else is worse. Especially short handed. Can't have the 2nd faceoff guy be sub 40%, and right now they are outside Marchant.

I wouldn't mind having Chipchura be the 4th line center with his faceoff percentage:

Faceoffs Won - 105
Faceoffs Lost - 124
Faceoffs Taken - 229

45.8%

Still sub 50% but I think he'd be a bigger influence on the 4th line than Marchant is...But thats my opinion. RC won't let him center or even play for that matter, so whatever.

Another solid move.

I think Bob is excellent at these small moves and flips.

We'll see if he has something bigger lined up for the deadline or not, though. I think by moving Lupul he may have gave up on the three scoring lines, so don't expect him to really go after much else unless something falls in his lap.

I'll grant you the sample size is too small to draw much conclusion from but Chipchura is at 31% on SH faceoffs.

Having said that I have liked the 4th line of Marchant Chipchura Parros all year but I don't get to give input to the coaching staff

Not too sure about that. Lapierre and McMillan are both capable of playing checking roles, yet instead of a Voros or Chipchura or whoever, they put Sexton with them. I think they still want the third line to chip in.

The question, though, is does Murray and/or Carlyle think it's good enough, with their recent success(to an extent), or does he upgrade? Guess we got the next 10 days or so to find out.

This is an interesting pick up. Ruutu is definately an agitator with few peers. He will drop them to back up his play from time to time. Actually enjoyed watching him play here in Crunchland when he was in the Canucks system. Takes bad penalties from time to time, but will pick up the team with his hitting and getting under the other team's skin. Has been known to attract the attention of every opponent on this ice as they try to get even for a shot he put on someone. This should increase the importance of having Parros in the lineup, as Ruutu is going to drive opponents flat out nuts. Good adddition.

Ideally, the Ducks should play Lapierre and Ruutu on the fourth line with Marchant. If the Ducks can pick up a 3rd line center, our lines should be set.

Ryan Getzlaf Perry
Blake Koivu Selanne
McMillan X Sexton
Ruutu Marchant Lapierre
Parros

Visnovsky Lydman
Fowler Beauchemin
Sbisa Sutton/Lilja
Brookbank

Hiller
McElhinney

I was dreaming Ducks would get Jarkko and my dream came true He is definately one of my favourite players!

Maxim is poor man's pest. Jarkko is the real deal!

Good locker room guy. Underrated offensive skills and is actually pretty good on penalty shots. Good on PK with good two way game. Brings grit on toughness. Doesn't turtle always like someone said. Just look at the pounding Darcy Tucker got.

And what I believe taking the bad penalties have gotten down a little bit.

That's my playoff line-up(assuming we make it in). Hopefully that X is Stephen Weiss.
