Go hard after Connolly because the scoring depth he'd provide would help a lot. Weiss would be better but apparently he said today that "he never wants to leave the panthers" yah I know.

If they get Connolly or somebody else and stop screwing around with 7D this team will **** people around in the playoffs.

Can that x even be Weiss? I think if we do somehow manage to get him from Florida, sutton would have to go the other way for cap reasons.

My hopeful lineup for the playoffs (if we get in):

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
Mac-X-Sexton/Belesekey
Ruutu-Lappy-Chipchura/Marchant
Parros

one of Lappy, Chip, or Marchant would have to go.

Can't we add like 14 million in players at this point during the season or something ridiculous like that?

Good move, solids up our third line.

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
McMillan-Lapierre-Ruutu
Marchant-Chipchura-Parros

Not too shabby

I like this trade. Ruutu is a good defensive player and a good penalty killer. He hasn't impressed pointwise, but actually he has quite soft hands. Yes, he plays dirty sometimes, but I wouldn't call him dirty player. He is an agitator and I think he's a good addition to Ducks bottom-6 (especially when considering what Murray had to give for him).

He's got some good hands, last year he scored 12 goals and 14 assists, which isn't bad at all, his number this season are low, but i guess it's because he played in a struggling team.

Is shift disturber really a term? Or is it just someone not knowing how to spell ****?

Looking at the Ottawa reaction, it seems like Ruutu's game has really gone downhill this season. Sounds like another Bargain Bin Bob move then.

Before he has even played a game it starts

Spent a pick that can be absolutely nothing and got back some bottom six depth that is not a useless rookie. Right now I am fine with it and the deadline isn't even here yet. Let's see what else he will do.

Not every trade or signing has to be for a huge player. We have some big names already so getting rid of a small pick for a bottom six need is not a bad move.

I wanted Dustin Penner for the bottom 6 for a 5th round pick, anything else = dud!

At the moment:

Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry
Blake - Koivu - Selanne
Ruutu - McMillan - Lapierre
Chipchura/Marchant/Parros/Beleskey

Hopefully after deadline:

Ryan - Getzlaf - Perrry
Blake - Koivu - Selanne
Ruutu - Trade - McMillan
Lapierre/Marchant/Chipchura/Parros/Beleskey

Nothing wrong with this move, even if he doesn't pan out.

It is typical bargain basementing by Murray, but when the price is this low...why the heck not?

In Ottawa there also many who miss him and think that he's was one big reason why Sens manage to get to playoffs last season. Ruutu commented the trade for Iltalehti in Finland (http://www.iltalehti.fi/jaakiekko/20...12302_jk.shtml). He said that this season hasn't been good for him and the team in general. He hopes that in Anaheim he can play using his strengths.

Maybe they tried to change something in Ottawa this season and tried to put a round block to a square hole (or something)(?)

I probably shouldn't have used the Bargain Bin term because it has a negative connotation. I was not intending to criticize the move. I have already said I like it.

My point was that Murray was buying low and gambling on a bounce-back, like he often does. The Ruutu of the past would greatly help this team, but would also have cost a lot more (Ottawa fans were hoping for a much higher pick, like 2,3,4 round). In this case the cost is low and the risk is low (even if Ruutu doesn't improve it's not like he'd hurt us). So I'm actually a supporter.

I believe he palyed mostly on 4th line... in 2nd worst team in the league.
I`m not too high on him now. Will see.

This whole situation reminds me a bit of R2 right now.

Yeah I realized after I typed that, I don't really like that term myself seems like people use it in a couple different ways. Little sleep and I blame myself for being one of those people this time. And I agree with you.

Not going to lie, I'm kind of jealous as a Pens fan. We've since replaced Ruutu with Cooke, but Ruutu wasn't dealing controversial hits every single game.
This is a great move for the Ducks IMO, Ruutu is one of the grittiest players in the league but at the same time I guarantee that he will pull some skills out of his rump every once in a while that looks like something that belongs on the top 6.
Just because I've seen some people who don't know who this guy is, i give you guys the thumbs up on the addition.

People seem to forget he is getting older, he isn't as bad as he was 5 years ago. Solid 3rd line guy.
