Gomez showed effort, skated a million miles, but he still can't put the puck into the ocean. 7.3 cap hit, I don't care if you're a playmaker you gotta be able to have enough talent to put the puck in the net once in a while when your team really needs it.
You call the Oilers an awful team but the reality is with Montreal's current defense and missing Cammalleri, their roster is worse than Edmontons.
Montreal went into tonight with two veteran defenseman, a star rookie defenseman and 3 AHLers and lost one of the vets early in the game. On a roster that isn't overly strong to begin with, this is gawd awful.
Gomez played decently yet racks up another -2 i believe and sits at - 18 for the year.
Honestly the defense played gutsy despite the mistakes. You can fault them. Fatigue and differing roles played a huge factor.
You can find 6 billion people in the world to give an effort on the ice for $7.3 million. He needs to get points. 54th among all centres in points. Pathetic. He should be ashamed of himself.
1 point in 2 games against the worst team in the league. Beautiful.
When you have 5 regular D out you will lose most of your games. But HF will get all emo for the next 3 days and say trade half the team etc. etc.
Come on HF get emo so I can laugh at the morons.
This is true..and I have no problem with that. It's the forwards though...I mean, c'mon...no sustained pressure. What's the Habs record when allowing 3 goals or more? It's putrid. Team can't score, same story.
Oh well, lets just get the next 2 games over with and come back home. I have no faith in this team in Alberta and BC.
Let's not go nuts here. Tons of injuries to the defense, and short handed all night. For this team right now, losing Wiz in the 1st is like having a player red carded in soccer. PK and Price could have been better on the 2nd goal, but they are still young, that is to expected, but at least THEY show up every night and try to make a difference.
Pleks needs to find his game on the road. He was invisible tonight. Gomez outplayed him. One of Gomez's better games in that he was creating chances more often than not, but you can see how the team misses Cammalleri, and still needs another finisher if they want to go forward and make the playoffs.
Poor Hamrlik, the guy looks like he is going to just drop any minute from exhaustion. Can't blame him really for his mistakes, the guy is playing way above and beyond what he should be playing, he ain't Lidstrom.
I hope we miss the playoff for a couple of reasons:
Jacques Martin closer to getting fired.
Gomez closer to get traded/sent down/bought out.
Molson more likely to be furious with money loss due to no playoff and finally shakes things up.
Team more likely to add toughness.
Team more likely to do a flyers-like rebuilt the year after instead of endlessly being a middle-pack team that can't win it all and can't draft a franchise player except if real lucky at the draft cause everybody knows Timmins almost exclusively draft 5pi10p two-way good skater soft player. ( wishful thinking as far as rebuilt goes )
Gauthier more likely to get fired the year after.
Gauthier more likely to sign Markov instead of pretending his team can compete by making the playoff by an hair and getting to the 2nd round with Price doing all the work.
