Defensive line-up 2011-12

I was thinking what would the best defensive line-up for a rebuilding team.

Trade- Gonchar and Kuba(even taking back a forward on a bad contract if needed)
Phillips 4y 10m deal

No doubt a lottery defense but there young and have lots of time to grow.

I would like that. Carkner could step in for any of the bottom four if they're not playing well or if we are going up against a more physical opponent

I can see that. Though I'd be impressed if Murray could unload Gonchar and Kuba this year. We will definitely see Cowen and Rundblad split time in the NHL and AHL like Karlsson did his first season. I can see them making a strong case for sticking in the NHL by the end of their first season though.

I'd love to see that line up next year but I think we'll have Kuba or Gonch to fit in until at least the trade deadline next year.

I think we'll have the following players, but I'm not sure how I'd pair them:

Gonchar - Kuba - Karlsson - Lee - Campoli - Carkner

with Cowen and Rundblad waiting in the AHL.

I see no room for Phillips.

Phillips - Karlsson
Cowan - Rundblad
Weircoche - Gonchar
Carkner - Gryba

I think with a summer to get big and practice with pro hockey players, Weircoche will be ready fro NHL action next year - Gryba as well
