Likely moving another defenseman if this is the case.

Unlikely to do much at this late date.

pretty indifferent to the deal, maybe it works...Stuart HAD been a pretty solid stay at home guy, not sure what happened to him this year...at least these 2 guys know Rammers system.

Wheeler? surprise me kid, the talent is there..is the desire?

bye Rich, nice effort, but you became expendable...solid depth option for the B's.

Wheeler = Peverley
Stuart vs. Valábik - is neccesary to write who's better?

Great trade.

Nobody loves Pevs more than me, on the other hand, he's -16, his best career sequence was at the beginning of the last season. He's solid player without doubt, but don't forget, if he wasn't claimed off waivers by Atlanta, he would probably never have 55pts in NHL team.

I'm satisfied. Finally is Boris traded. This guy has no future. Maybe Boston thinks he will be second Chára

Why does stuff like this always happen when I'm not home (in the Apple Store at Perimeter) so I can freak out in private?

But yeah, this kind of sucks. I'll miss him.

...I WAS JUST THERE AN HOUR AGO. SERIOUSLY.

Anyways, can I get a summary of Stuart and Wheeler?

Stuart is tough as nails, stay at home guy, little offense...he'll be a fine 5/6 if he stays here..Wheeler is an enigma, he's talented but doesnt use his size like he should, maybe he can find some chemistry with somebody here.

i was never all aboard the Peverley train like some here, dont really mind losing him.

IMO...Good trade. Aside from faceoffs, Peverley has not fit into Rammer's two-way system well. He flourished under Anderson's offense only system. So far this year, he is 2nd worst on the team with a -16 (-17 is Bogosian's).

The only part of this deal that stinks is Wheeler is a pending RFA, so there's another contract to worry about and Stuart is an UFA which means he's a rental.

I'm starting to like this more and more a lot for both sides. I really do like Peverley on Boston, same with Valabik with his idol (I do hope that works out), but if anyone can turn around Wheeler, it'd be Ramsay. And Stuart's exactly the type of D-man we need right now, a big physical guy.

As a Southeast hockey fan, I like this trade. The Thrashers add even more size, and more potential.

As 'Canes fan, this sucks.

Maybe he will be a part of another trade. One D-man has to leave. But it wouldn't make a sense. He's stay-at-home D-man, he plays SH, so I think he will stay. It really looks like Bogo will leave the team. But I hope he won't

Wheeler is better than people make him sound like. He's versatile and defensively sound. He's a third liner on a good team now, and has the chance for more if he can put it together. The frustration that comes with Blake is that you can see where more production ought to come from and it hasn't yet. So he's a project in the sense that there's more he could become, but if he doesn't pan out he can still pull his weight.

As for Stuart, he's tough and aggressive, he's not slow afoot, and he's decent positionally, but you just plain might as well not even put a stick in his hands, as he doesn't know the first thing about what to do with it. He can't pass, he can't stickhandle, he can't create, he has no finesse to his game at all. If all you want is a big, tough, physical stay at home D whose skillset has as little to do with anything but defense as is physically possible he's your man.

If he can help with the shots against/goals against and horrid PK this team has by being a defensive defenseman, he'll earn his paycheck here.

Blake Wheeler - 1:23 SH TOI/G (6th among the Boston forwards)
Mark Stuart - 2:03 SH TOI/G (3rd among the Boston D-men)

I still like this trade more and more.

You'll love Stuart and you...might like Wheeler. He's got the skill and the size, he just has to start using them on a more consistent basis.

Well, Valábik is just a bust. Do you think that Chára will teach him how to skate? I have to laugh at it.

Great trade. This tells me Dudley isn't going down without a fight. Wheeler could become a star in Atlanta. Peverley was not getting it done this season and was in the dog house. I liked Pevs, I'll miss him, but I put my team first and trading him, for this return, was the right thing to do! Valabik is trash we all know that. Stuart is better than Hainsey, and Sopel, and maybe Oduya. We upgraded on defense and offense! Playoffs hopes are revived! And we upgraded long term, Wheeler should be here for a few years.

We are the better team right now than we were last night. Great trade!!!

You guys will like Stuart. He loves to hit, and never passes on an opportunity. As far as on D, he is consistent and puts on the same performance every night. As for offense, he knows how to dump it in good.

This is ONLY Wheeler's third season? Wth were people expecting? Not everyone can be point producing maniacs in their first 3 years. Wheeler will have the best opportunity to produce right now and in the future. He will get good minutes with the Thrash.

I love this trade more and more! It not only revived playoff hopes, but it also gave us another future piece in Wheeler.

BTW Wheels expanded his repertoire a bit this year by playing a decent Center. He's raw on faceoffs but he did everything else fairly well.

I see him as a 2LLW or 3LC with room to grow. If the team commits to him as a center he might reward them.
