Wheeler is very underrated, he's been hitting a lot this season and he shows flashes of talent. Stuart is a meat and potatoes defenseman and he adds a lot of grit to your team.

I like this trade for both teams.

I like this trade for both sides. One of those rare deals where I don't see a clear winner. Stuart is Stuart. Whats been said about him is what he is; and it's what the Thrashers need.

Wheeler, well he has the tools. He's young, has size and skill, but he just hasn't utilized it all yet. Ramsey should be able to bring the best out in him. He has potential to be a great player.

Overall, nice deal for the Thrashers. Can't wait to see Wheeler in a Thrashers jersey!

Bruin fan chiming in on Wheels and Stue.

First off Stuey is a meat and potatoes type of player, tough as nails very underrated and can deliver that thunderous open ice hit from time to time. Will stick up for teammates and clear your crease while playing solid D.

Wheels became Bostons whipping boy mainly because of his 6ft 5in frame and not using it to their liking..Wheeler is big but doesn't play big and that didn't sit will with most Bruin's fans.He is skilled and works his tail off for the most part.Is good on the pk and has decent speed don't expect 30 goals every yr but he will be a solid contributer and should be able to pot you 20+ goals a yr.

Well Peverley wasn't playing that well anymore so I can take this deal. Hopefully it turns out well for both teams.

Damn, this trade bums me out, Pevs was my favorite player on the team the past fews years. And now I have no jersey's of anyone who is currently on the team. (Hossa, Lehtonen, Kovalchuk, and now Pevs)

i think its a good trade for Atlanta. I think Wheeler will flourish. Just hope that ATL can re-sign him after this season

our defense gets better and gives us flexibility to move a defenseman.

Wheeler has much more upside than Pevs IMO and is better defensively. i like this a lot.

Looks like we'll have to remake the "Sons of Blueland" opening intro finally, eh? I mean, Chris Mason is still in it. Where's PhillySportsFan's favorite player, Ondrej Pavelec?

Kinda sad to see Pevs go, but had come to terms with the fact that he wasn't in the Thrashers future plans.

I like this trade. Stuart should help us out defensively.

Gonna miss Pevs but I suspected he might be the one to go in the event of a trade. He is a talented player but not part of the core youth that the Thrashers are cultivating. gotta give to get.
The Thrashers got a lot of mileage out of the waiver-wire pick up (and not so much from the 1st round draft pick).
Looking forward, though, to seeing Stuart and Wheeler play.....

I agree with this. I think Wheeler can do some damage in ATL.

Stuart? I hate that he's gone, but you guys will love him. Tough as nails, solid, and isn't afraid of anyone.

Enjoy the players guys.

You'll enjoy Peverley. He has a great wrist shot and is very good when he decides to be a playmaker and not hogging the puck (which he was doing recently). You probably won't enjoy Valabik, because you won't see him for a while, if ever. Hopefully he can thrive if Chara takes him under his wing.

He absolutely will. He has very limited offensive ability, but he is great in his own end. You guys will love him. Gritty, will give his all for the team, and is a leader. Sad to see him go, but not surprised.

Good luck with the trade. I think it will be good for both sides .

If I'm Boston, I don't even send Valabik to Providence. I bring him along with the team, not as a roster player or anything, but just as a guy that's hanging out with the team that could be partnered with Chara as a mentor for a few weeks, just to see if Zdeno can teach Boris anything. Idk if that's possible, but heck, it SOUNDS cool!

Ladd-Little-Bergfors
Kane-Antro-Wheeler?
Bolts-Cormier?-Thor
Machecek-Stapleton-Stewart?

Going to miss Peverley. He is a better player than Wheeler but I think Dudley moved him for 2 reasons.
1. He lost his spot at center with Antropov, Little and Burmistrov our top 3 going forward. Although he can fill in at RW, it is better to trade for a natural winger in Wheeler.
2. Youth movement. Peverley is only signed for 1 more season. Wheeler is younger and still has scope for improvement.

It's a decent trade. Peverley is the better player but I think Wheeler is a better fit at the moment.
Stuart for Valabik is kind of wash. Stuart will help us for the rest of the season but I doubt he gets re-signed. We all knew Valabik wasn't coming back to Atlanta

I dont get why everyone is saying that because of this Stuart trade it means Bogo is out the door? Just because we bring in a 5th/6th defenseman means we are trading away a potential top pairing D? Chicago is looking for some serviceable d-man. Maybe Sopel can be sent back?
