Reasoner's price seems to be around a 2nd rounder, according to fans in this thread. Not sure I'd go for that. Would be Belanger all over again.

Strickland reporting that Weiss is staying put: http://www.truehockey.com/articles/P...-Stephen-Weiss

Boston now has...six healthy centers (Bergeron, Krejci, Peverley, Kelly, Seguin, Campbell). Safe to assume Seguin will play wing. Impressive nonetheless.

Would it be out of the question for them to send him back to juniors?

He has played way more than the 10 game limit that makes that not allowed.

Valabyk needs reentry waivers. What's the over/under on him playing in Boston?

The Caps inability to make significant moves hinges on having a top-heavy line-up.

In other words, TRADE SEMIN.

An over/under needs a number, so people can decide whether it will be over under.

That being said, I'd set the over/under on games he'll play in a Boston Bruins uniform at 0.5

Re-entry waivers means any team could claim him at half his cap hit (which would be $381,250), and he's an UFA after this season. I can't see 29 teams not taking such cheap depth, especially given his size.

It's allowed.

The first year of his entry level deal is counted due to number of games played and he has accrued a season for free agency rules due to 54GP, but it's allowed. I believe the deadline for sending him back to juniors is the trade deadline.

What sk8 said.

Valabik is just organizational depth I'd reckon.

Yeah, not really. Their inability to make significant moves is McPhee's risk-averse nature and cautious long view tendencies. They also lack attractive complimentary pieces that might be considered expendable, be it on the parent roster or in terms of second-tier prospects.

I'd think Florida would be content with a 2012 2nd instead of a 2011 2nd, but who knows.

I don't think so. Wouldn't the Bruins just be able to assign him straight to Boston?

If they wait until after the trade deadline to put Valabik on re-entry waivers, the main reason a team would claim him would be to keep him away from Boston. He wouldn't be allowed to play for another team until next season. I know he wouldn't be allowed to play in the playoffs, but I'm also 99% sure that he couldn't even play him the remainder of the regular season games for another team.

The caps aren't going to do anything to compete with Philly & Boston?

That's partly it. Having 6.7 invested in an immature player who doesn't understand the team concept is also kind of a big deal.

I'd throw in believing that a group of kids coached by another big kid could win in a man's league.

They'll do something but it won't be enough and the company line will be "one of these days we're gonna get lucky and win one!".

The players will tune them out further.

I've said it many times and I'll say it again.

If we're going to win the Cup within a few years window frame (last year, this year, next year) Semin is going to be a BIG reason why we won it - I don't think this team could do it without him, even if we traded him for a legit #1b/#2 center.

The price would've been something like Eric Fehr.

Caps will make a minimal trade at best, IF ANY, thus leaving the Caps still MEDIOCRE!!!!
