Moncton Wildcats

Well that was a stupid decision to give Owen the boot because he could lead the team through the playoffs.. They have a decent back-up with Gleeson but he can be inconsistant at times...

The Wildcats are rebuilding. Why have a 20 year old playing goalie rather than an 18 year old who is the future in net? Besides, Ted Stephens is returning tonight for a long injury so he takes up a 20 spot. Good decision. Gleeson can also lead them by the way, he's very good, had a great, great game against Saint John the other day.

Whats up in Moncton

i meant to do this earlier . i caught the tail end of the 11-2 Seadogs butt kicking of the wildcats and the mention that there was an interime coach. Then on theier last trip here Danny Flynn wasn't here. so whats up is he gone ??? or doing GM job?

According to this article in a Norwegian newspaper Baie-Comeau and Moncton Wildcats are interested in Norwegian goalie Steffen Søberg.
http://translate.google.com/translat...207175&act=url

Søberg has had a great year and was awarded with "rookie of the year" in the Norwegian Elite League playing against men. He was also exellent in the Under-18 WC in Germany this year. He had the second best save-percentage in the tournament 93,1 % playing for the weakest team. He could and imo should be picked in the NHL draft this year.

The article also says he has not decided yet, but that he thinks it may be too soon to leave for North-America.

Well the have had two Norwegians before. First Patrick Thoresen. And the last one Joakim Jensen played there for 3 years and is from the same club and neighbourhood as Steffen Søberg.

Steffen Søberg was picked in the 4th round in the NHL draft by Washington. It looks like he is going to CHL next year.

From Dave Prior (goalie coach for the Caps)

“He had indicated through his agent that he wanted to come and play in North America,” says Prior of Soberg. “Hopefully he’s taken in the European draft. I really do believe [the CHL is] the best league for goaltenders to develop in. It’s always a challenge in that initial year to come over [from Europe] and make the adjustments to a much higher speed and a much more physical game around the crease area, but that’s good.
