When the Sharks' affiliate was in Kentucky and Cleveland, Roy Sommer and a lot of key coaching and admin people still lived off-season in New England, the players were from everywhere except Ohio, and the team wasted a ton of time and $$$ on hotels and airfare.

It also allows for increased days of practice as there are very few nights spent in hotel rooms.

Is it true that Demers can't be recalled until more salary is cleared?

In other words, should we be expecting another trade today?

Demers and Braun now on SJ Roster. Irwin and Ferriero off, assuming they both went back to Worcester.

There have been so many transactions in the last 48ish hours I have stopped keeping track of who is where...I'll catch up when (if) the dust settles.

DW said Nitty is out indefinitely and cap geek shows him on LTIR so I guess the sharks have the cap space now to bring the young guys up.

Please do. I have no idea whether to trust the SJ roster on the website or not. Brodie Brazil said that Irwin was "showing up on the roster" in SJ via twitter.

Murray-Boyle
White-Demers
Huskins-Wallin
Braun?

Why go 7 dmen all the time... I just don't get it.

...fingers crossed that has something to do with the WWWWW movement taking shape.

Wally is getting Welly type of ice time. 15 minutes for a defensman is a sign that the coaches are not too stoked on his play.

15 minutes is a lot for a 3rd pairing defenseman.

But let's hope eddiing, GCB2000, HOOCH2173, matt trick, Sharks4Life, SharksFan1, Vswan are right.

Not at this point in the year. 3rd pairing should be around 18min, then falls to 14min in the playoffs (or last 10 games). Wally has been getting 18 off and on recently and don't count the Caps game where Pickles was injured.

If a guy is getting 15min reg season, you are looking at 10-11min in the playoffs. That won't cut it.

15 minutes puts Wally dead last on the team.

Only Joslin would be stoked on that share.

But that's what 3rd pairs get in the playoffs anyway. I think Philly was playing their guys like 7 min.

brodiebrazilCSN 11:30am via TweetDeck Irwin and Ferriero reassigned to Worcester. Obviously Demers 'recalled' to #sjsharks

Philly took it to the extreme and ultimately paid for it.

It's a level of trust thing with the coaches. At some point they have to figure that they are shooting themselves in the foot if they overplay their top guys, but they continue to do it. Sometimes it is better to throw the lesser guys out there and pray. BTW, Lavi did that initially for Philly, prayer mode, and got burned repeatedly. That's why the Philly minutes were so skewed.

For the Sharks, if they start throwing Crankshaft out for 22 and 23mins or Boyle for 27 to 30, they will get burned. You can see it in their stats. At that point, do you trust Braun, Wallin, Huskins, etc. not to get smoked in those few extra shifts.

Boyle 25-26
White 24
Vlasic 22
Murray 20
Demers 14
Braun/Huskins/Wallin 10

The Sharks will get burned if they have to cut Vlasic's TOI due to ineptitude (see the Ducks series two years ago). I counted 5min of dman time to a forward like Pavs or Patty playing point on PP. If they get a low call game, those lower pairing minutes need to go up along with a minute or two to Vlasic.

Huskins and Wallin can both handle more than 10 minutes, Huskins especially. You also have to account for Demers who can up up to 20 if needed.

Edit: Demers can/should be around 17, Murray can drop to 18. #6 can go to 12. Something like that.

I screwed up. I had to put Demers in Braun's spot. Braun/Huskins/Wallin get 10min.

But we will probably see:

Boyle - 28
Vlasic - 25
White - 24
Murray - 22
Demers - 14
The rest - 7
