This means we're probably getting a defenseman from a team not named the Hurricanes then.

DW better have something GOOD up his sleeves cause this move just makes things even more confusing.

Future considerations? Do they have another Wallin to trade to us later on?

seems a pointless deal. Joslin's contract is near the league minimum. the cap space provided by this seems nearly irrelevant.

So CAR wanted Joslin in the Wallin deal but DW didnt want to give him up but now he trades him there for future considerations? WTF? Is DW secretly working for the Canes?

The guy that bought the game-used Joslin jersey last night has gotta be pissed.

Not sure why he bought it in the first place though.

500k is 500k. Better than losing him to waivers.

Send a message via AIM to CrazedZooChimp
So does it mean they're sending us someone they haven't acquired yet, or is it like negotiating rights or a conditional draft pick or something? Are there stipulations in the CBA about what future considerations can actually be?

Maybe it's a player-friendly move and DW wanted to give Joslin a legit shot at the NHL somewhere else? not sure where he would stack up on the canes depth chart, minus White

I assume it is because they are not planning on running 7d anymore and want that 500k back (since they can't waive him) in conjunction with whoever else is moving (Wallin/Huskins) to acquire whoever it is they are about to acquire.

Plus, of course, this puts them at 48 contracts. Gives them a little more breathing room.

Maybe "future considerations" was "convince Wallin to waive his NTC and you can have Joslin for free" and that deal just got announced first.

this is some seriously poor asset management by DW once again. You have a kid who by all accounts is better than Wallin riding pine. Is what Carolina wanted in the first place and instead he gave them a pick and Joslin for free.....wow
