For comparison sake, I've used Shane Doan mostly before and I think it still sticks. He's gritty, can score, can defend and is a leader. A fantastic package of a prospect.
I can see Doan, but Lazar is a way better skater than him, which is why I prefer the Callahan comparison.
Don't really see the Callahan comparison? (Besides the physical play.)
I've said a cross between Kesler & Richards (mike). I've seen him live 10+ times and I keep coming to the same conclusion...
I've heard the Kesler comparison before and I like it as well.
From what I've seen this guy is a two-way player who has the intangibles to be a leader/captain at the next level. He has good offensive potential and one of his strengths I noticed was his shot. He gets it off quickly and its accurate, too.
What I really like about him is he is the straw that stirs the drink, his energy and speed creates most of his lines chances. He doesnt wait for other players to make something happen. He is also an effective forechecker and is good on the PK. He really does have all the tools to be a very effective player in the NHL.
WHL online streaming. It is right on their website. Par per view though.
PPV for CHL games, take advantage of the lockout. I normally wouldn't pay to watch any of these games, but I might because it's like the only gig in town right now.
Of course I want to see Reinhart play, but I LOVE players like Lazar. The Owen Nolan/Shane Doan comparisons are definitely intriguing. I can tape Modern Family.
Sounds like a Gilbert Brule scouting report from back in 2005. Brule's stats were better as a 16 year old, Lazar is a bit bigger and I'm sure most feel his game will translate better at the next level than Brule's did.
Brule should've been better and I think he still can. He's getting a bit of a raw deal, and I wish Phoenix had re-signed him.
Anyway, it's hard to put a Brule label on Lazar. Gilbert had some concussions and some personal issues (partially as a result of concussions) that really set him back. If Brule managed to avoid head injuries, he might be an extremely effective NHL player today.
