You can see the skill, but for a player is age to understand how to use it so simply is why I see Toews.

He is more of a physical threat like Benn though.

I love this prospect.

from what I saw tonight

TJ Foster has impressed me.
He reminds me of Matt Cullen.
He looks very talented.

I think Lazar has more speed where Doan has a bit more poise with the puck.

What Zenon Herasmyiuk, one of our WHL scouts, likes about Lazar:

Quote:
“Lazar plays the game harder that any draft eligible prospect in the WHL,” Herasmyiuk said. “He is as good or better in the defensive zone than he is when he is on the attack. He has a lethal shot and throws the body at will at both ends of the ice. He is a budding two-way threat that is sure to receive a lot of attention this year.”

Can't wait for the season to start and see how he does. Been one of his biggest supporters since bantam.

He's been a force today. Three goals, physical and all of his goals have shown off his fantastic drive and speed, and killer shot.

Also hit a post and has had 2-3 other good chances, could have 5 goals.

At this point I am having a hard time justifying putting him behind Shinkaruk in my 2013 rankings.

Seems like his game is similar to Hall's? Does this comparison have any credence?

His goal scoring isn't as good as Hall's but Lazar plays a more physical two-way game. With that said he could score 40 goals in the dub this year.

Sounds like a Gilbert Brule scouting report from back in 2005. Brule's stats were better as a 16 year old, Lazar is a bit bigger and I'm sure most feel his game will translate better at the next level than Brule's did.

He reminds me more of a Ryan Kesler style. Hall is much more dynamic, Lazar seems like he more complete. (at this point.)

Brule didnt have the size to back up his game at the next level where as I think Lazar does. His stats as a 16 year old are deceiving because he played mostly 3rd line minutes on a championship Oil Kings team, he really wasnt used in a scoring role until the playoffs. Lazar has a better shot and better speed than Brule did.

Was at the game, as well, and Lazar was impressive to say the least. He was magic everytime he touched the puck. His game reminds me more of a Phil Kessel, but with more heart and grit.

Wasn't able to catch the game today, is he playing like Callahan/Landeskog type that I saw last season?

Funny thing is, there could be a lot of different "Big 4" combos at this point.... Whata class indeed.

He is more skilled than those guys.

I liken his game to Toews.

For comparison sake, I've used Shane Doan mostly before and I think it still sticks. He's gritty, can score, can defend and is a leader. A fantastic package of a prospect.

Highlights from yesterday: http://www.oilkings.ca/video/index/i...f62e649245236f

2 solid goals, the other one was a soft goal allowed by the goalie.

The Oil Kings site lists him at 6'0 198 pounds.

Does it seem accurate when you watch him in person? Hopefully he can grow another inch this season.

I would say those measurements are accurate. Doesn't look much taller than that and definitely looks thick enough to be 198.

I would hope by the end of the year he'll be around 6'1 and 200.

I think this is still the closest comparison, I like the Owen Nolan comparison as well but I think Nolan shot left?
